Decision Time on Jackson

I don't post on here enough to know everyone's posting history. From initial read it sounds like everyone on here thinks its a valid question just very apprehensive about the one posting the question. So I will pose the same question, is it time for a change in leadership? If not how long do we extend the contract for? I am not a wrestling expert, and from my posts have stated that many times. I have started to watch more of the sport and watched the semifinals last night. I would definitely like to see the team do better, and wonder from more informed individuals what is the best way to do that? I like Coach Jackson and I like he is one OUR guys. I just wonder is this his ceiling? If it is, is that acceptable for us? Just some things to ponder.

Basically none of this is true. But keep spewing the same crap over and over again without addressing the issues at hand. Very productive. :realmad:

I have nothing against KJ. I just do not think he's a good coach. I was not excited by the hire but I don't think I was negative about him until things started to slide.

How is this not true? You have not posted once the wrestling forum the last month and a half when were winning duals and good duals at that. You sir need gtfo off this message board. All you do is post negativity about the program.

I posted in the Big XII thread just two weeks ago. And a positive post at that. And every post in the NCAA thread was also positive. We didn't beat anyone of consequence in a dual this year so I don't know what you mean there.

This thread has become more about me than the subject at hand. A MAJOR decision is coming and people want to whine about a fellow poster. This program has beaten the life out of people, IMHO.

You're like the wizard of oz: "Don't look at the man behind the curtain! I posted positive things the past couple of weeks because I want to be able to say I've been positive lately when they bring up the fact that all I do is ***** about the coaching staff every year for the past 5 seasons."

And you're right, beating #6 VT, UNI, Wisconsin, Arizona State, and Oklahoma, as well as being one match away from beating Okie State is a pretty **** poor dual record.

For ******'s sake, we lost ONE dual this season by more than a single match, and it was to Iowa. ONE.

I don't think the big donors care one way or the other. There is a small core group of diehard passionate wrestling fans but they don't have much influence in donations or attendance.

Serious question: Would money help the program? Let's say a donor dropped a million dollars into wrestling. Would this help much? or is it really not a matter of facilities or additional help at this point?

I don't know jack about wrestling but this whole thread is a YOU issue.

No question - that kind of money would mean a full stable of elite senior level workout partners.

I was wrong. We beat a VT team that may not even finish in the top 10. Woot, I guess? The other teams you mentioned are not good. 34th, 16th/17th, 29th and 19th. In that order.

The op asked what JP should do. JP will make his own decision. I would extend his contract for two years. Reasons:

Top half in conference. Top quarter nationally. No negative pub (seems to run a clean program). No dramatic decline in results. No outcry from ISU fans for removal that I have heard.

Yeah we whine about you because your the only one that continues bi*** and complain about Jackson. You tell me how many other posters continue to come here and be negative about where the program is at? Cause if I must say, I think most of the people that have been negative in the past have flipped and said we have improved. So sorry but u are the cancer of this forum.

If these are the goals for the wrestling program color me disappointed. If you're an ISU and you are just into the "top quarter" it isn't impressive. We're one of the haves, not one of the have nots.

We could have finished 9th in the tournament this season, and you'd still have complained that it was "barely top 10, and that's not acceptable" and have brought out this same topic, and be saying the same stuff you are right now. Nothing KJ does will be good enough for you, and you just want him axed, for any and all reasons plausible. I actually wouldn't be surprised if the reason you want him gone has less to do with what he's done/hasn't done, but more about him as an individual.

Maybe he's just cranky that UNI totally crapped the bed and Iowa was gift wrapped a title and let it slip away due to an even worse first couple rounds than we had compared to expectations.

Give me a break. I have never once expressed disappointment in anything other than his performance as a head coach. To say nothing he would ever do would be good enough for me--that's absolute crap. I think a top 10 finish would have been wonderful. It would have meant more young guys on the podium and signaled more promise for the future. Unfortunately, we are 20+ points from a top 10 finish and have only scored 33 (so far). We have also not been in the top 10 for 5 years.

My impression of KJ is that he's a good man who recruits good kids. I think his coaching performance has not lived up to expectations and this program isn't where it should be. That's it.
