Comments from a Baylor fan

That's ******* ridiculous.

When I lived in the Linn-Mar district, I watched a few Marcus Paige-era boy's games. I immediately realized the post players were far better than anything you'll ever see at any level of WBB, primarily because they are bigger and more athletic. What's a WBB team going to do against a 6-10 player who can run the floor and dunk without a second thought?

Did you explain how the women's good fundamentals make up for their inability to dunk?

Au contraire, my friend. I remember reading an SI article years ago about the practice squad the Tennessee women's team played against. It was a bunch of guys. Not D1 quality guys, but serviceable gym rats who volunteered to scrimmage with the women to help them get tough.

Pat Summitt had to set up rules to hinder the men so that they didn't regularly whoop her team like rented mules. And that wasn't an equal comparison, it was male gym rats vs one of the 5 best women's teams in the country.

I'm not saying that women's ball doesn't have it's good points, but if you're making a women vs. men comparison you ALWAYS take the men unless you make them play with one hand tied behind their backs.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a quote on this site from Geno A. that their scout team would crush his girls if they unshackled them.

Again I ask those who are opposed to this venue, in seriousness, why is this not suitable to host the Big 12 WBB tourney?

The problem with Municipal in the past is that it was a dump and really made WBB seem like an afterthought. A renovated Municipal would be a great place to hold games IMHO.

We're not talking about a handpicked group of college-age men's ballers. The specific challenge was a high school state champ team vs. the WNBA all-star team.

Throw Brittney Griner at him and laugh their ***** off while she schools him.

Watching Griner in college, she struck me as being a pretty mediocre player who dominated solely by being an athletic freak. She really wasn't all that skilled. Put her up against someone her own size with more athleticism, and I doubt she'd be much of a factor.

If my hypothetical WNBA all-star team were to win the game, they'd have to do it with perimeter shooting.

A state-champion high school team (and I'm thinking 4A here) most likely has Div I prospects on it. A scout team MIGHT have someone who turned down a chance to play DIII.

Fennelly has similar rules, particularly when it comes to blocking shots. The scout team's job is to pretend to be as good as a first-rate opponent, so there are some things that they can't do because you just wouldn't see that in a WBB game.

I believe one rule of the scout team is they can't leave the floor, ie no blocking or jumping for rebounds.

Why put it in Municipal? Just put both of them in the Sprint Center like others have said? This seems like a no-brainer to me

There have to be logistical issues in running two separate 10-team tournaments simultaneously at the same venue that we haven't discussed here.

Signage, merchandise, coordinating multiple TV networks and broadcast teams. Probably plenty of other things as well. Nothing that couldn't be overcome, but they probably figure there's no reason to do it. I also wonder whether the two tournaments will ever go back to the same weekend.

My wish would be that the mens and womens run roughly concurrently, but alternate between KC and OKC either every year or every other year... KC, KC, OKC, OKC.. etc. Dallas doesnt seem to want to market the tourney or even seem to care like KC and OKC do.. I really enjoyed Oklahoma City, and KC is great.
