I think some people are getting Ranking and Seeding confused. Come tournament time, ISU will have a higher seed because of their SOS, BPI, RPI, and whatever other acronyms you want to use. UNI is 26-2 and has won 15 straight. They deserve their ranking. WSU...I don't have a comment, nor can I explain it. If both teams (UNI and ISU) win out the regular season, UNI will remain ranked higher than ISU. If UNI loses this weekend (and I think they do), I think you'll see them drop past 15. Then I expect you all to have a party to wash off your insecurities.

Are scientists being insecure when they try to debunk myths? Do they hold parties afterward?

How many other teams would be 26-2 with UNI's schedule? I just looked at the top 25 and I think you have to get down to about #20 before you find a team that wouldn't. Which just so happens to be right where UNI should be ranked.

Where in my post am I being an idiot? ISU is 4-4 on the road. That is not good. They lost to TTU. That is pitiful. Those two things alone should keep them out of the top 10. I'm not saying ISU is worse than UNI by any means, but with their body of work up to this point, UNI deserves their ranking.

EDIT: I keep saying 4-8...they've got 4 losses in their 8 road games is what I meant to say.

Pretty much the entire thing I would say.

Gonzaga is good but should be a 2 seed at this point. Wisc should get that 1.

I think gonzaga has a good chance to make a decent tourney run. That said, of the top teams I'd pick them as an opponent for isu, mostly because their center basically wouldn't be able to play a la Ridley.

It'd pitiful for UNI, but 4 of the last five NCs had at least 3 conference road losses. Duke had 4 in 2010. 4-4 isn't a bad record considering the road schedule ISU has played. It's good, even.

Explain to me how UNI's body of work is better than ISU's. I honestly don't think you can. And keep in mind Evansville is worse than Texas Tech. Record may not show it but that is mainly because the MVC is a joke.

Current RPI

Evansville 109 (Non-Con RPI 72)
Texas Tech 175 (Non-Con RPI 148)

Good shot Evansville is back in the Top 100 after playing UNI (17) and Illinois State (86) this week.

I whole-heartedly agree that Iowa State has played a better schedule thanks to the Big XII, but you don't get to make up facts.

I focus on WSU because they have ZERO body of work and we have some with UNI sympathies who can't speak rationally about them.

UNI - a commanding 1-1 against Top 50 RPI. TWO top 50 games.

Iowa State - 11-4 against Top 50 teams.

sounds right

Couldn't agree more. However, I do have confidence that the selection committee will see this. I don't care what our ranking is, it's all about seeding now! If WSU or UNI is seeded higher, then my mind will be blown.

I'm not talking about ******** computer analysis. Head to head Evansville loses 9 times out of 10 to Tech.

Guys, no bracketologist has UNI seeded ahead of ISU. Seeding is all that matters. Rankings are for fun and the committee doesn't even look at them other than to chuckle.

You have no idea if they would or would not. Nor do I.

Pretty safe bet they'd have more than two losses. WSU has yet to win a single game against a team as good as 14 of their b12 regular season games would be. They'd have 8 losses minimum.

Who has UNI played ALL YEAR? WSU. That's it.
We have played:
The ENTIRE BIG 12. TWICE.

Again, UNI woudn't crack the top half of the Big 12.

That's an impossible question. Would UNI have a Big 12 budget? Would UNI get to have the Big 12 brand behind them when recruiting every player on the current roster? Would UNI get the benefit of scheduling home games in the non conference designed to produce revenue with no real threat of being defeated?

I just hate that argument, because its comparing apples to helicopters.

This is a much better argument against them than "they shouldn't be that high because they haven't beaten better teams." What would ISU's record be against their schedule? Where would we be ranked if so? Before you answer, you would have to say ISU is in the MVC to play this schedule.

Where is Murray State than? Why are they not in the Top 10 (let alone ranked)? Murray State has won 22 straight games (including 4 against MVC teams...)

Way up there
What I can't believe everyone excepts is Gonzaga....they've only played TWO rated teams, they beat SMU (mid major) and lost to Arizona, yet this is a 1 seed? This program has been a bust for nearly 10 years. They never live up to their NCAA seed and seem to still be living off of the hype of their 90's teams that had deep tourney runs. Easily the most overrated team this year (pry last year too).

Here nor there
I don't care about UNI anymore than any other **** conference team that is undeserving of a high ranking, which is what UNI is. It is fine to bring up the TT loss and SC, which is why #12 is pretty fair to us. However UNI lost to Evansville and has very, very few even decent wins. If ISU is #12 based on resume, WSU and UNI are probably in the 20's. In terms of how "good" the teams are, toss teams outside the elite in a hat and draw.

I like UNI's ability to make a run in March more than I do their resume or actual level of "good". Some athletic, P5 school is going to need to match their energy and discipline, and extreme confidence (built on wins in far too many close games against bad teams)...or that P5 team will lose.

Helicopters. Always go with helicopters.
