Misc: Pro Golf...Tiger Woods

amen............Rory is someone that could save golf. As much as everyone loved Tiger, he was a pretty cold/calculated guy. Rory has that European open book attitude which would be great for marketing and people could rally behind.

plus when he is clicking, his dominance can be only compared to Tiger in the late 90's.

Rory isn't polarizing enough to do what Tiger did. He could carry the sport but not to that level and right now I just don't know that Rory has the mental makeup to thoroughly demolish people in the length of stretches Tiger did. I think it was Kyle Port who put together some of Tigers stretches and it was just unbelievable. I don't care if Tiger ever breaks the record or not but I would love to see a season in which he and Rory are in 5th gear with the throttle pinned every time they are out there. This sport hasn't seen that in a long time. Norman never had that one guy and once Tiger got going, there was just no one on that level.

There was basically nobody when Tiger was "demolishing", Rory is playing against better golfers.

I LOLed at Tiger's "I'm reaching numbers I haven't reached for years" when talking about his tee shots. Yeah, maybe no one in the history of the game is swinging harder either. Think he can swing that hard and hold up? Not a chance.

This. Golfer's now are so much better than when Tiger "dominated'

I don't agree with that first part but I've been in the argument and there's no way to win for either side so let's just forego that. Outside of Rory, there isn't anyone as accomplished as Els, Singh or Mickelson were.

And Rory's swing just as hard. If Rory doesn't have some back issues with that rotation, I will be shocked. His angular velocity is off the charts.

Duval was playing some unbelievable golf for a period during Tigers reign.

I think that Tiger needs to dump the "Tiger" name and rebrand himself to like "Sabertooth." Dress completely in black all the time, grow a pretty good five oclock shadow, maybe get a face tattoo. And just become a total heel of the PGA. Get a smoking hot female caddy to haul is bag around in high heels and a bikini, hang on his elbow between shots. Talk all kinds of **** to the people he's paired up with. Cough and sneeze occasionally during someone's backswing. Get a bunch of groupies to create problems on the course for the other golfers. Maybe round up some other guys to join him. Bring a little WWE flair to the PGA. Basically pull the old Hulk Hogan becomes a heel routine. It's not like it could hurt his golf game. It might keep him relevant for a while.

Goosen as well. Paddy Harrington was solid.

Younger guys hit the ball further and dress crazier than they did 15 years ago, but I'm not sure there is better top level talent.

If none of Rory, Fowler, Spieth or Bubba win at least one major this year I'll chew off my left foot. It's those guys then the rest of the field these days IMO. Jimmy Walker is catching up quickly.

I heard Tiger was feeling great, hitting the ball like he was when he was healthy.

Uhhhhh, what happened in the desert then?

Any golf fans on CF?

I would like to see Tiger get 18 and 19 major wins, but I think he is done. He is just not the same player as he was.

Pretty sad fall from grace.

You didn't even mention the guy that won the Fedex Cup.

He was ranked 69th, missed the cut at the Barclays, then got hot for the last three tournaments. That doesn't put him in the upper echelon in my opinion.

Most of his mistakes were from his short game. Something there isn't right. I watched him Tuesday and Wednesday and the swing is looking good. That will come....but the short game is insanely atrocious. At this point it's basically the "yips."

Spieth and Fowler haven't won a major. Love them both and they are close, but they haven't won.

Bubba is Master's or bust. Augusta fits his game so well. In the last 4 years, Bubba has won the Master's twice. In the other 14 majors he hasn't finished in the top 10. In fact, he has only one top 20 finish in those 14 majors.

Not a fan of Eldrick however, Woods is on his 4th swing coach having used Butch Harmon, Hank Haney and Sean Foley in the past. His current swing coach is Chris Como and from what I read Como isn't even a golfer. That is probably the biggest reason his swing has gone south. Trying a new swing with Como with left over swing thoughts from Foley. Golf is hard. Very hard and when changing a swing it can be even more difficult and the only way to get out of a funk is to keep battling and grinding away.

You can swing perfectly all day long on the driving range, however once you are on the course, it's a whole different gig. Especially competitive golf.

I remember watching Tiger and thinking he should be shooting 82 and somehow he'd pull off a 72. Now it's caught up with him. He say's he's between two different motions. I say yips would be a better classification.
