...is why a percentage of the fan base is really upset with the loss yesterday. We lost to a ranked team on the road by 1 point. Big whoop, get over it.

(Normally I wouldn't post a thread over this, but I felt inclined to share my thoughts)

Now they say "well, the effort wasn't there" and "they let a team blow them out from the start of the first half and the end of it". I don't get this, last years team had quite a few double digit comebacks, this team had two double digit comebacks IN ONE GAME. How can you question that effort? Someone kicks you, you get back up, they kick you again, and you get back up again. I applaud that.

For those who recently jumped on the bandwagon, you may not remember that Hoiberg's 2nd and 3rd teams had to mesh around this time. They did, and we went dancing. Last years team meshed from the start, which was lucky.

All I'm saying is calm down, and just enjoy the ride. Go Cyclones.

Kansas Sucks. Their basketball team isn't bad.....just the fans, the program's sense of entitlement, the preferential treatment from referees, the fact that Bill Self has 0% votes in the Infinit Coaches challange......it just all culminates into one big suck.
Random thought, I know. I thought this was a good place to say Kansas Sucks.

Any time, any place is good for a "Kansas Sucks", which they do.

I think part of it is the hype that CFH has brought to Cyclone Nation and just look at all the positive press that has come with it. That said the bar has been raised and now we should win every game according to the passionate fan, me included which is not realistic but one can hope.

Meh. It stings when you lose a close game. Especially when simple things like boxing out and free throws are a major factor. I'm a fan that was upset at the loss. I disagree that I shouldn't be upset based on last year's team results at this time. This is a different team with different expectations for most. That said, I'm still a fan and there were lots of positives to take away from last night. Bring on Kansas! Go Cyclones!

I think you should expect to win every game, but also expect to lose quite a few. If that makes sense.

i don't have a problem with being upset, maybe I didn't word it correctly. I have a problem with overreactions and tweeting at Georges and telling him he's selfish (obviously not saying you did this. I saw it from others)

I hate losing, but it used to be a lot more fun to talk sports on CF. This is supposed to be recreation. People overreact way too much (although sometimes this is entertaining).

If anyone did this, they are a *********.

I think the frustration comes because we lost in large part due to stupid errors. Getting beat on the defensive glass, missing FT's, etc. are really annoying things for fans to watch.

I agree with what you're saying. A one point loss to a ranked team on the road is nothing to be upset about. Move on.

We were 2-3 to start the big 12 season last year. That ended up being one of the most fun seasons of my life. No need to ever panic in basketball.

Correct. "Fans" that do that crap are not helping at all and are complete idiots as far as I'm concerned.

It would be nice if we gave our opponent some credit. Baylor had something to do with their good rebounding numbers. They played defense.

It's not all because Iowa State sucked.

My frustration comes from letting Kansas have sole possession of 1st in the Big 12 this early. Again.

I think the frustration is just caused by a little bit of impatience. It's okay to compare this team to teams in the past, and say hey......look what happened last year....but that really doesn't help much. All of us want these teams to get better from year to year, and advance farther, and for the program to get stronger and stronger. So, reaching the same levels that were done the year before or whatever are really not satisfying enough. We want the program to get to the point that it wins a majority of their conference (and non-conference) games on the road, and ALWAYS protects the home court.....no matter who the opponent might be.

It is only January though, only 3 conference games have been played, and if we have learned anything.....CFH's teams generally improve as the season goes along. I think this group probably has as high of a basketball IQ as any of Fred's teams have had, and I believe they will figure it out. As always, there are several new pieces that still need to gel with each other, and I have to believe they will.

Because losing sucks. This isn't football season when losing is ok since we have a bad team. We had a chance and couldn't close it out. Most of the anger of the loss is really disappointment that we were that close to starting 3-0 in conference and had a chance to start the conference season 8-0 going into our game in Lawerence, which would have been huge in the conference title race.
