Bigger issue with DeJean-Jones

Can't stand when people look at him and say he's a selfish player. I feel like that is only said because he's a transfer. All of our transfers have been regarded as "selfish". He's 3rd on our team in assists and is a great passer and seems to be a great teammate.

Actually most of our transfers have been regarded as very team oriented. Royce White was always deferring to Scotty C, Chris Babb was tremendously unselfish. I would compare BJD's attitude to that of Chris Allen. He is a terrific player, can make great individual plays, but does his presence on the floor make others around better. I think the jury is still out on that issue.

I think a lot of posters just like to play the "you hate him because he is a transfer" card. No, I dislike the immaturity that is being shown by a 22 year old that should be a leader on this team; not someone the coaching staff has to babysit.

Can anyone fathom this situation happening to Naz, Georges, Sherron, Dustin, or Monte? No, not because they wouldn't play their music too loud but rather because they would never let it get to that point where the police would be called.

i support Iowa State and thus I will support BDJ and I truly hope he understands the tremendous opportunity that the Iowa State bball program has provided him and takes full advantage of it. He is an amazingly talented 22 year old that needs to start acting like a leader instead of a 19 year old fresh out of HS.

If you base people on their worst moments who are you going to like? This kid had a moment of frustration in KC but since has been playing nearly perfect. In post game interviews he's been very humble and almost completely giving credit to the team. He's been focused on the floor, hopefully this will get him focused off. I don't have any issue with todays stuff, it was a really crappy thing they did to him IMO but for his sake he needs to be extra careful off the floor. He could be costing himself money, regardless if the bad press is warranted or not, it exists.

A really silver lining kool aid look at this is the possible "comeback" story surrounding BDJ. He's a college bball household name today. They say any press is good press and he still has plenty of chances to be the good guy.

Everyone said that about Kane last year. BDJ is light years ahead of anything Allen did, and Allen was pretty outstanding. BDJ distributes, plays D (Not Allen's strong suit), and his teammates seem to love him.

Honestly I totally agree with you. However, he is good at basketball so he'll get away with it. Just about like 75% of the jerk loan officer/salesmen I worked with at a previous job: you produce people overlook crap behavior. Ahhh you must have missed the press conference my friend. Fred didn't take a bullet for BDJ today. He basically imposed a one game suspension for this kid wasting everyone's time the day before a rivalry game. Fred didn't risk his rep (that would have been no suspension) rather he sent a message to BDJ. As I have stated as naseum I think BDJ's attitude in Kansas City was poor. And it wasn't the Maryland game that made me think that. Has he been excellent since then...yes. Is this a setback...absolutely. I want the guy to succeed but you can't expect someone to just ignore the past either. Maybe he has changed, grown up, and is ready to realize his 1st round potential.

Ok, apparently I need to clarify again. It's not a soap box position about him getting in trouble for this. But getting the cops called on you 6 times. Having a sit down with your coach and the cops because you are repeatedly having run in with the cops. THAT IS A PROBLEM.
