Bigger issue with DeJean-Jones

Really not going to waste my time reading this whole thread. BDJ is a very talented BB player that just won a National Player of the Week award. He probably got a little to cocky and a little carried away and now has to pay the price with being embarrassed in the national press and being suspended for a huge game. I don't think there is near as much going on here as some of you are trying to make it.

1) I don't know that it's the law where the reading is taken from. We've already discussed that the ordinance says it's taken from outside. But that's up in air.

2) Are you suggesting that sound coming from the apartment, through a door out into the hallway - isn't going to be the same relative amount of sound in an adjoining apartment through the wall? Point being - a person having a conversation at 60 db in a hallway isn't going to register at 60 db in an apartment through closed doors and walls. So if they're making enough noise that's the equivalent to a talking conversation in the hallway - it stands to reason it's basically making enough noise to be having a conversation in other people's apartment.

Apartment doors do not muffle sound much if at all. I walked over to my neighbors apartment a couple weeks ago to give them something and could hear fairly clearly what was going on in the apartment. When they opened the door there was little difference in the sound.

Yet elsewhere it's been repeated ad nauseam that this isn't BDJ's fault because the walls in these apartment are paper thin. Which is it?

Again, from the law standpoint...ya know what...it's not worth it...I get your point, but I disagree with you. Whether you agree with me, I don't care either.

That's fine. Trying to understand, but if you're saying it's ok to have the equivalent of a 3' conversation in someone else's apartment and have no recourse - you're correct. I don't agree with you and likewise don't care.
 
Let's face it, bdj is probably being a ****, and Matt is possibly a little oversensitive, but if not for the weed crap, bdj doesn't get arrested and this at worst is an internal matter Hoiberg handles that we speculate on, and it is a non story.

Bdj getting a noise citation has turned into a national story and it is a non story. If cf found out he had a noise complaint the story would be don't be dumb turn the music down and no one would care.
 
Lame thread, why create a new one for the same venting..... Also you are basing your opinion solely on the mess of a story that media has made this.... His roommates and him are bad neighbors to one guy, so he should no longer be on the team???

I think the biggest issue is that the Iowa Game is tomorrow. He does this before Lamar? Not as big as an issue.

Also, I should have mentioned this earlier, but aren't there countless other threads on this topic he could have posted this under?

It's amazing how many resources were wasted by the police, ISU, and especially the media based on the words "Drug House".

Right on the nose. Having represented college students at a major university for over 7 years, I can tell you that disorderly house citations are given out to students more than any other type. And, believe it or not, some people continuously call the cops over every little thing because they don't like another tenant. Whether that was the reason for the calls cannot be determined by looking only at one-sided hearsay. (However, the complainant clearly didn't like BDJ or his roommates.)

Additionally, many times cops do not give a citation for noise the first time but will do so on subsequent visits. The fact that they did not do that in the past leads me to believe that the complainant's calls to the police were based more on personal conflict issues than the loudness of the music/conversation. The fact that the decibel meters used by the police read 65dB, the same as for normal conversation, makes me question the reasons for the police knocking on the door. Any chance you read the stories from others here that had the cops called multiple times? Of course not, because you think you are all that and a bag of chips. You shoud change your name to oldgrumpyman, because you are far from wise.

So climb of your high horse, step off the soapbox and get a clue. Run in with cops? Really?
