Completely agree...I guess that was more of a sideline discussion wherein I think 60 dB might be a pretty low threshold for a noise violation rather than a defense of BDJ.

It's only the threshold between midnight and 7 am - I believe.

Just because his opinion if what his punishment should be is idiotic, and it is, doesn't mean it was his fault that BDJ got suspended. And if it comes down to someone having to move it's my opinion that the party with the 3 noise violations should be the one that has to leave.
It doesn't make it his fault, but it shows that there is validity to both sides because it shows he is petty about this stuff.

I never said which one should move. I would probably agree if either moves it should be BDJ and Nader, but I don't see where that is relevant.

My biggest issue is all of the people who only blame BDJ. First off he isn't the only player living there and second there are problems on both sides. Don't judge one person and ignore the other parts is all I'm asking for.

Can't keep my mouth shut anymore. The only thing I've learned here is that there are far too many self righteous ********. This kid, a student scholar of the month and national player of the week, was cited for a noise violation. He received a one game suspension, which is probably the first time any athlete has been for such a charge. I can respect Hoiberg for it. But here we are still going strong like this kid killed or assaulted someone.

Midnight to 7am is 55dB. The rest of the day is 60.

Although it also says

When a complaint is received, a measurement may also be taken at the location on the property where the complaining party was disturbed.

I don't know if that is the same threshold or not though.

Validity to what both sides, there's only one side that was cited for anything.

I lived in Northwest Ames my last 18 months of college and it was anything but quiet. If these guys are in southwest Ames, it's more of a college area. I will respectively disagree with White's comment in that last article about moving to West Ames for "quiet".

I'm all for the suspension from the history and having to drag coaches into it, but how is he suppose to move forward? Not play Xbox or watch tv ever again at home?

White is whining. If you can't see any validity to that then I don't know what to tell you.
Whining perhaps, but 3 noise ordinance violations would indicate his whining isn't entirely without merit. Although given that BDJ's apartment was cited 3 different times I hesitate to even call it whining, it is so annoying to not be able to even enjoy your own place in peace because of rude neighbors.

These seem to me to be the result of petty neighbors. 3 times there was no violation, but they turned music down. 1 time there was absolutely nothing. 2 times there were violations. 1 time there was no violation, but police said they were disturbing neighbors. Then you have this morning. Forgive me if I am skeptical of Matt White being a saint. 63% of the time there wasn't a noise violation. That screams being whinny. If you are going to call the cops you better be calling because there is actually a violation especially in a college town.

Even if you want to discount the first two as letting them off easy there are still three times that there was no noise violation.

Police were called to the apartment around 2:57 a.m. on a report of loud voices, yelling and music. No noise violations were found, but police talked to Dejean-Jones and three other people about how the loud noise was disturbing a neighboring resident in the building.

Think that Fred and/or staff were part of the "three other people"?

3 violations in 4 months isn't exactly crazy.

Again, based on the police talking about the Hoiberg meeting and the compromise about quiet hours and the texting part, makes it sound like the police didn't exactly think this was some serious thing. White is certainly allowed to complain, but I'm allowed to say that he sounds a bit dramatic and over the top.

As far as the late night goes, I read on another site that BDJ's brother and friend from LA had just arrived in Ames for the Iowa game. If so, I understand the late night thing a bit better.

And lets just remember that this morning we all thought he had some sort of crazy drug ring going in that apartment. Compared to that, being a ******* is nothing.

His complaining was not without merit. BDJ's apartment clearly had a history of disturbing neighbors whether it was in violation of the noise ordinance or not.
Seriously? The majority of the time there was no violation. I don't get how anyone can look at that and say there is something else going on as well.

It's not serious, I definitely don't think it's serious, it's just stupid and disrespectful. I guess 3 violations and several other visits where you agree to turn down the music in 4 months is a lot to me.

What I'm fairly certain of after today:

A) BDJ and possibly Nader made some really poor choices and were disrespectful and rude neighbors. Straight up, he was be a huge jerk. (in other words, deserved what he got).

and

B) Matt White seems like a very small, petulant person. Ok, you got the kid in trouble and hopefully he won't bother you any more. Don't need to go giving quotes to every media outlet you can find and making the story bigger. He knows BDJ isn't probably going to get to tell his part of the story, so whatever he says will be the public's version of the truth. Be a man.
