I'm shocked that they didn't just arrange for him to switch apartments. I have heard firsthand of coaches making D1 players move because the house was becoming a party house and this was not a result of any concrete charges or lawbreaking.
BDJ been tied to 9 police calls since he's been here
http://www.desmoinesregister.com/st...dejean-jones-apartment-police-calls/20278891/
These seem to me to be the result of petty neighbors. 3 times there was no violation, but they turned music down. 1 time there was absolutely nothing. 2 times there were violations. 1 time there was no violation, but police said they were disturbing neighbors. Then you have this morning. Forgive me if I am skeptical of Matt White being a saint. 63% of the time there wasn't a noise violation. That screams being whinny. If you are going to call the cops you better be calling because there is actually a violation especially in a college town.So if you've had trouble with noise and other things from your neighbors for 4 months, tried to resolve things without the police. Tried to resolve things with the police. Tried to get his coaches involved so things could be sorted out without and arrest.
If you done all that, calling in a noise complaint at 3 AM on a Thursday morning is disrespectful? You've got to be freaking kidding me. If this was the first noise problem, then sure, calling the cops would be disrepectful without at least talking to your neighbors directly first. However, there is nothing disrespectful in calling the cops if talking to your neighbors directly hasn't worked out.
I don't think anyone anywhere has said anything about Matt White being a saint or anything. There were probably times he shouldn't have called the cops, but 8 calls to their apartment and 3 noise violations in 3 months is excessive no matter what way you look at it.These seem to me to be the result of petty neighbors. 3 times there was no violation, but they turned music down. 1 time there was absolutely nothing. 2 times there were violations. 1 time there was no violation, but police said they were disturbing neighbors. Even if you want to discount the first two as letting them off easy there are still three times that there was no noise violation.
If I'm the neighbor I just go play the damn Xbox with BDJ. Or buy earplugs. We all have to make sacrifices for the Cyclones.
The bass is maddening, when my wife and I lived in an apartment we had a loud neighbor below us and it was hell. You can do certain things to drown out loud people and even loud music to an extent, ear plugs or your own white noise or whatever, but you can feel the bass and there's nothing you can do about it.Earplugs don't help if the issue is bass. Which is what the complaints seemed to have been about.
That's my point though. Was BDJ in the wrong sometimes? Yeah probably, but sometimes Matt White was in the wrong. That is why we have to look at it for what it is. Should BDJ receive the noise violations when they are justified yes, but when there are plenty of opportunities that he was targeted without cause we need to understand that may be where some of the immaturity comes from. I don't know about you, but if someone kept calling the cops on me when I hadn't done anything wrong I would probably do some of the things BDJ has done.I don't think anyone anywhere has said anything about Matt White being a saint or anything. I am kind of rambling, but most people are ignoring that some of the problems were created by the kid that complained.

You can be a nuisance to your neighbors without violating the noise ordinance though, a couple of the times it notes that they agreed to turn their music down so they were obviously playing loud music, just not noise ordinance loud. They were clearly ****** neighbors, they got busted several times in 3 months, they should have learned a lesson after the first or second I'd say, and definitely after a meeting with Hoiberg. That's my point though. ...and we're to the "he was asking for it" part of the playbook.
Next stop is the race card. Can't wait.
I'm sorry, but I don't see how you can continue to say this is all on BDJ.Matt White doesn't think BDJ should still be on the team

Police say a person at Dejean-Jones' apartment opened the door, and officers could smell burnt marijuana coming from the apartment at that time. Officers then left Jones' apartment to get a search warrant. When they returned they took a meter reading of the noise level, which was too loud, and also found marijuana in a dresser.
They were obviously forced to be too loud by this criminal mastermind, Matt White, which caused them to be issued a noise violation citation and then suspended. Well played, sir.I'm sorry, but I don't see how you can continue to say this is all on BDJ.
No, but we have come to the consensus that kicking him off the team is idiotic which he seemed to think was the appropriate punishment. This is a lot of petty bickering from both sides that would be best fixed by one party moving somewhere else. Neither party is a horrible person because of it, but both parties are immature about it.They were obviously forced to be too loud by this criminal mastermind, Matt White, which caused them to be issued a noise violation citation and then suspended. Just because his opinion if what his punishment should be is idiotic, and it is, doesn't mean it was his fault that BDJ got suspended. And if it comes down to someone having to move it's my opinion that the party with the 3 noise violations should be the one that has to leave. No, but we have come to the consensus that kicking him off the team is idiotic which he seemed to think was the appropriate punishment. I've never been around when someone got a noise violation citation, I'd be interested to hear what something sounds like inside the building if it's 60+ dB measured at the street.Completely agree...I guess that was more of a sideline discussion wherein I think 60 dB might be a pretty low threshold for a noise violation rather than a defense of BDJ.
