It all goes back to Knott and Klein. Those guys covered up a whole lot of bad. Without them, we haven't had a thing going for us as a program.
And George. The first UNI game George was out of place and we lost. He then manned up and was a terror. Miller tried to emulate. Until someone wants to take up the slack, we will have a sieve.
Exactly this. We would have realized the D was horrible a lot earlier without them.
A couple times I saw a LB with a pursuit angle that didn't change when the ball carrier changed directions. He just kept running away from the play. The missed tackles are getting old too. Our defense is a very bad talent pool combined with bad training, and is very close to being the worst in the nation.
Not surprised a lot by the offense. GR is no where near as good as SR. There where several times yesterday when GR would lock on one guy the second he got the ball and would just stare at him until he got sacked or threw the ball way. There were also several time when it was 3rd and short and GR refused to take off and just get the first down. SR would have had 100 yards rushing against KU. SR is just a guy that gets first downs with his legs when things break down, and that makes a huge difference.
Wally used to really be able to dial in on other teams and gave us a shot if our offense could produce.
The D seems so bland now/soft and other teams get to run their offenses uninterrupted. The last three games, I say send the house and be disruptive.

We have blitzed more this year than we have any other year so far with Wally. We can't blitz. Our LBs are too slow and they just run directly into the blocks. It's amazing that they are even on this roster. They would be scout team players at any other BCS school. No size, no speed, can't tackle, can't play angles...
A lot of the defensive issues are due to recruiting, not necessarily scheme. Kane Seeley may be a hard worker, but he has no business playing Big 12 football. I'm also not sure what happened with guys getting off blocks, it wasn't near this bad earlier in the season.
