Brady Hoke is toast

Hoke is gone, doesn't matter if there will be an interim.
I think Michigan makes another, stronger run at Les Miles, and I think he takes a serious look at it. (Yes, I know, SEC)

I think Les will take a closer look at the Michigan job this time as well. He's in his 10th year at LSU, and at some point, his message there will become stale and the administration will want him out. I'm sure he knows that as well. His contract there only runs through 2017, so it wouldn't be a massive buyout, making it easier for LSU to get rid of him if they wanted to.

I don't think Michigan will look at Miles, myself. There's some bad blood with people around Michigan from his time spent there. As a Michigan fan, I don't know that I really want him there.

So, some insight on Michigan. Hoke is gone. He's been done since the ND game. After that and the plethora of other data points from the last two years, you knew this team wasn't coming back. Their offense is awful. The defense would actually probably one of the best in the nation if they weren't constantly put in ****** situations and basically just give up the ghost late. The good thing is that they have an attractive roster. They have guys you can win with.

The AD will be gone before Hoke is. I expect that in the next couple weeks to be honest and I think they will have his replacement quickly. Likely Brad Bates or Ward Manuel. I don't think Harbaugh is as much of a longshot as people think. Word is he absolutely will not be there if Dave Brandon (current AD) is there but he would listen to someone else. There's too much smoke around the Niners situation for there not to be something going on there.

Once you get past him, though, there aren't a lot of no brainers. There are no Kelly's or Sumlins out there. The closest thing you have is probably Petrino and I don't see them going there. RichRod should have been kept, I think that's clear. They could have given him the resources to offer Jeff Casteel a boat load of money to be DC and by now they would be competing competitively. Keep in mind there were guys like Jake Fisher and Sammy Watkins committed or very close to committed to Michigan when RR was there. They would have been fine in the long run. The guy wasn't taking stupid pills for his three years there.

Honestly, I still haven't figured out what Hoke does besides clap and not answer questions. He doesn't do anything. If it were me, I would have fired him after ND and given Nussmeir an interim opportunity to see what he has. His resume is okay and you knew Hoke had no clue what he was doing. For three years clock management and game management has been ******* awful and any sort of "new" offensive idea is completely ignored. You were given the most electrifying runner in the game for two years and refused to go find a OC who could use that. Then behind him you had Devin Gardner who is physically capable of pretty much anything in football if he would have had some damn coaching. I know Gardner is awful but I've watched that guy put on clinics before. It's not him. It's four years of **** QB coaching and awful Olines. He should have been an NFL QB and that staff took that away from him. I feel real bad for that kid.

That was my Michigan vent for the year. As bad as some think ISU is coached, Michigan is so much worse. Worst coached team in the country.

TT murdered that program and KK is a home town boy learning on the job.

I don't really follow TT football, but how did Tuberville murder the football program? Seems he recruited fairly well during his time there.

I'm genuinely surprised that Charlie Weis doesn't make it through the season but Brady Hoke probably will.

I bet Michigan sends out a press release an hour after the OSU game at the end of the season about Hoke being "relieved of his duties."

I think the reason he hasn't gotten the boot yet is that the AD is likely toast too.

It's kinda fun listening to the Meechigan meltdown out here - almost as satisfying as listening to Hoks melt down. Almost.

What is extremely hilarious is seeing what RichRod has done out at Arizona and then listen to Meechigan fans try telling themselves that he's still a horrible coach because he's not a "Meechigan Man". This honestly couldn't have happened to a nicer fan base. LOL

I honestly cannot predict whether Hoke will be around another year or not. Before the season started the thought was if he went 0-3 against the primary rivals (Notre Dame, Michigan St, and Ohio St), he would be gone. Not only is it more than likely this will happen, they may not even make a bowl game. And as upset as Michigan fans are, it sounds like they want to give him one more year to figure this out - "Meechigan Man."

I think if Hoke goes, the AD is gone too. Otherwise I don't think so.

Growing up a Michigan fan, I hated Rich Rod because he ran the spread and had NO defense, something Michigan prides itself on. Alabama of the last five or so years is the kind of football Michigan should be playing, and that is why Hoke hired their OC while keeping the DC who has more than proved himself, although this season is an anomoly in part because the offense is so horrible.

Michigan does not have the personnel to run the type of offense the OC was hired to run. Devin Gardner is a senior who makes freshman decisions and although he needs to ride the bench, he is the best option in terms of ability to win and that is unfortunate.

I like Hoke, but he is a LT occupying a Generals chair. He needs to resign. I feel like the DC is retired and has lost the fire he used to have and he needs to retire. There is no discipline.

Where Michigan is at right now, it just isn't "natural". I doubt there will be any wins for the foreseeable future.

I was going to say the same thing. Would not be surprised if Les left Baton Rouge for Ann Arbor.

Some radio guys said they should hire Jim Tressel. That would turn some heads.

I hope Hoke stays around forever. That fanbase deserves to have a horrible team. Having been to a game in Ann Arbor my hatred of Meeechigan and their fans grew ten fold that day.

The AD was brought in to keep RichRod under control so as not upset the uppity blueblood boosters than run michigan athletics. He needed to "make his mark", fired RichRod and brought in Hoke to make the big money happy. That all has blown up in his face. He'll either get fired soon or pull the plug on Hoke with a guarantee that one of the Harbaugh bros come to save them. If he doesn't get a big splash hire like OSU got with Urban Meyer he'll get fired before the next football year starts.

IMO one of the Harbaughs will be the new michigan coach after the nfl seasons over. The AD will hold out late to hire one of them, letting all the good college options pass them by. So if he doesn't get a Harbaugh, he's done.

I don't think either of the Harbaughs will coach at Michigan...at least in the near future. I think both of them prefer the professional ranks.

No offense, but that's stupid and it's why Michigan sucks. They suck because they think they have to p[lay this certain type of football that rarely is successful anymore. Could they do it? Sure. Was that the best way for them? No. You had quite possibly the best offensive football mind in college ball; a guy who was a pioneer in revolutionizing offensive football and people wouldn't get behind him. That's what happened. People like you who wanted some archaic style of football left a coach out hanging because he scored a lot of points. Denard Robinson has been the brightest spot in the last 8 years of football. The way RR was treated from the get go by Lloyd Carr and the good ol boys was a joke. Devin Gardner had Vince Young levels of potential and that was realized at times. There's a reason he got worse every year and it's not because he wasn't any good. He had a head coach who I believe unintentionally sabotaged his career in an effort to play stupid football that his team wasn't equipped to play. Mattison is a great coach btw. Maybe this is the kick in the head those good ol boys needed.

Meh, I don't know about Jim. He's had his share of troubles with Baalke but he has said he doesn't want to manage personnel. That tells me he wants to manage personnel but doesn't want the GM duties. He can do that in college. I would put it 50/50 on Jim with an AD he approves of.

That's funny because the big boosters have not stated support for the AD. They have said they will not stand in the way of the regents removing him. He won't be there. He's ****** off pretty much everyone associated.

Not a chance.

Probably right, but I can't think of a fanbase that deserves a ****** like him more than any other. It's like Michigan was made for Harbough and his ********. I hope they all go down burning together. This would be awesome to see him fail in Michigan.

Amazes me how many B1G schools just don't see the watering down of their conference as a problem. Stupid is as stupid does.

I feel so bad for Meeshigan. Guy on ABC just said maybe if they are looking for a new coach they should look at the guy at Arizona. LMAO

Nope.

Deace talked about this the other day on a podcast with Miller and made a very good point. With Dave Brandon's job up in the air, Michigan can't afford to fire Hoke just yet. If Michigan is going to also fire Brandon, then they'll need to get a new AD before they can hire a coach. No coach of the caliber Michigan will be looking for is going to take a job and not even know who his boss is going to be, so there's really no reason to even start the search until a decision is made on Brandon's job.

When it comes to the offense, I agree with you completely. But Rich Rod's teams never played defense. There's a reason West Virginia was never quite truly one of the nation's elite teams in a given year, even with Pat White and Steve Slaton. If he could have had good defenses to go with his offense, Michigan would have been great. But he didn't, and that's not exactly uncommon for RR teams. Defense just isn't a priority for him.

You can't spell "Hoke" without "Hok!" Enough said.

I really don't think those big name coaches that Michigan will be looking at give a rat's *** about who the AD there will be. The AD might matter to coaches at schools like Iowa and ISU/

The big boosters run that Michigan program, and they decide who gets hired and who gets fired-- not the AD. Might as well hire coach, and let the coach hire approve the AD.
