When the Big 12 officials apologize for effing up, then you can start complaining about the refs.

But wait, we had B1G replay officials to review the targeting call, and even they confirmed it.

Idiots will never admit that the better team won.

I don't think this is possible. If a team is penalized for targeting, the player has to be ejected. I wish they'd allow the officials to have some discretion where something like only clear helmet to helmet hits were ejections.

I thought Lomax's hit was slightly worse than Cotton-Moya's because he left his feet and I thought launched at the receiver a little more, but if I set the rules I wouldn't have ejected either of them.

I still don't understand why all these DB's lower their heads and basically lead with their heads as well all the time?

And they all do it. Every team.

I was upset with a few of our tackles made by DB's yesterday too because they put their heads down and they don't wrap up.... they just try to make a big hit. I hate that.

He failed to mention that iowa lost lomax but we lost our top playmaker West on the same play. Remember Iowa fans always bragging about "next man in" thing?

This is possible, the replay is done specifically to determine whether the player is ejected or not, regardless (as I understand it) the penalty stands.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk but it's 2014. You just need to unsubscribe, save a tree, and get in the web Sunday mornings. I'd understand if you were an ISU fan getting the Ames trib or it was NYT or WSJ or chicago trib, but a paper writing that crap should get zero $ from ISU fans and our growing alumni base.

1x10^50% agree.
Cancelled my CRG subscription YEARS ago because you could barely find a mention of the Clones in it. Sometimes someone will bring one into the office and I will peruse it. Really shocking how little content is in it, in terms of news. You can get the same or more online for free. My folks get the DMR and it's about the same deal. What used to take 2 hours to read now takes 20 minutes. No idea how they get people to pay for it. I think my folks #1 interest is the Menards ad.

Yeah, ISU was without 3 of their top 5 WRs late in the game yesterday. I guess we could have used that as an excuse as to why we lost the game, but instead we overcame it and won. Iowa couldn't overcome the loss of one of their players. That is part of football. Overcoming adversity.

Thats the way it was last year, but they changed it this year. Now if the ejection is overturned, the penalty is too

Hickeyes make excuses everytime they lose, we only notice it when they play us. Their fan base you see online is awful. They think they are equal footing with Ohio State and everyone else is little brother. Jon Miller's rant is childish. It is hard to respect Iowa fans.

If they apologize about yesterday's game it will definitely be apologizing to ISU. The PI call reversal was among the worst any of us will see, and we've seen some bad ones.

Should be noted that yes they had a player ejected on that play but we lost arguably our best receiver on that play. So both teams lost a player but the Cyclones found a way to overcome.

not to mention they got several calls throughout the day.

I'm not sure Jarvis isn't our best player period. He was possibly the best player for either team vs. a ranked KSU team. He only touched the ball twice before being knocked out of the game against Iowa and on one of those plays he make the defense look like it was in slow motion for a big gain.

The targeting call was actually pretty clear, he launched himself head first at West. It is there for the very reason that played out (Jarvis being concussed), Lomax has no one to blame but himself.

So I get my morning paper today (CR Gazette), and for the most part the Hawkeye journalists were very respectful of ISU earning yesterday's victory.

Mike Hlas and Scott Dochtermann both gave ISU the credit for the win.

Then I stumble upon this big article written by Marc Morehouse basically blaming the loss on the refs due to the targeting call. Nice journalistic integrity right there.

He didn't seem to want to point to all the times in the game where ISU got screwed over by the refs that cost us big time as well. Why didn't he discuss the PI call that the ref actually called and started to walk off, and then they picked it up and said... nope, no PI here folks. That probably cost us 4 pts.

Oh, and you call defensive holding on Brandon Jensen on Rudock's TD run. Seriously? Or what about on that one scramble by Rudock where Ferch is getting dragged down from behind by his jersey, but no call.

I don't know, maybe it's just me being grumpy about living in Hawkeyeland, but c'mon... as a journalist just look at the game at least a little more objectively. I know you're a Hawkeye football journalist, but it just makes you look like a whiny sore loser to write an entire article blaming the refs when it is only one play out of the entire game.

Iowa did not lose because of the refs Marc. Sorry. Everyone thought Iowa would come in and run it down ISU's throat, me included, but instead they averaged 2.9 yds per carry. That is what cost them the game. ISU won the battle on the line of scrimmage on defense. Period. I just wish you would admit it.

Oh, here's link to the article..........

We've perfected the art of ref victimhood. They could learn a thing or 2 from us.

Morehouse has some Gazette promo running on TV in eastern Iowa......he tries to fold his arms all gangsta style and it is just ridic. I generally have no problem with sports reporters blabbing....that is their job....but this guy is a jock sniffer extraordinaire.

I liked how Lomax said in the article that he didn't intend to hurt West and he was trying to protect himself. What a joke, you launch yourself head first at a WR going to the ground and you were worried about protecting yourself? No, you are doing exactly what the penalty was created for, trying to cheap shot a guy out of the game. Moorehouse should be embarrassed for even including that in his article. But it shows where his heart lies.
