MLB: 2014 Chicago Cubs

In a way, that's a little disappointing. My dad and I have tickets to Saturday's double-header at Sec Taylor. Would have been nice to see Alcantara and Bryant in the same lineup.

I heard the Cubs are allowing people to upgrade their I-Cubs tickets to bleacher seats at Wrigley, paying for your gas to drive to Chicago, and reimbursing you for missed pay from work so you can still see all these call ups in person.

Source: I made that up.

Just looked at the Wrigley plans. It's going to be great. Now, let's hope there is an upgrade in food.

Certainly looked like the kitchens for the concession stands will be getting a pretty big upgrade, too. So I'm assuming the food will follow suit. Definitely love what they've got in mind. Keeps the best qualities of Wrigley while seriously upgrading all the negative aspects.

If I remember correctly, something in their contract with the Cubs gives them a say in renovation matters.
Apparently, that contract gives them no say in expansion deals, so the Cubs reworked the plans to increase something like 300 seats.

Loopholes and semantics are fun.

They made an agreement with the Cubs previous owners saying the Cubs wouldn't block the view of the rooftops. Ricketts feels he doesn't need to still follow the agreement. I agree with him. Their seats wont be worth anything if Ricketts moves the team to a different location.

how long is the deal with the owners for? I remember the owners were paying some ridiculously small amount for the right to essentially sell seats to the game.

I don't have an issue with the rooftop owners selling seats; it's really not much different than scalpers making a profit, IMO. Hell, those are kind of ****** seats, anyway.

Javy Baez with 2 run opposite field bomb home run in Futures All-Star game.

He's got the highest ceiling by far of all the Cubs prospects. He also has a high bust rate as well but that's what makes him exiting. Can't wait to see him at Wrigley.

But should they dictate how the stadium is?

It's easy to find the actual contract verbiage online. Basically there's two lines that potentially conflict with each other. The Cubs agree to not erect barriers to obstruct the rooftop views, but any expansion approved by the government is acceptable.

So the Cubs have the government entity OK to expand, but are the signs considered a barrier? The movement and expanded seating in the bleachers seem to constitute an "expansion" with government OK, but I'm sure a judge will have to rule
