That is all.

He was only supposed to be up while Barney was out, but they had some ability to keep him up over the weekend because of the pitching situation. My guess is he will be back at Iowa to start the 2nd half.

I get the intent in that, but from a Cubs fan perspective you can't help but feel like the reasoning is "you're playing far to well, back to Iowa."

Man, as an avid baseball fan the Cubs minor league system is just loaded. Let's say for ***** and giggles they all make it to the majors...you're looking at a lineup of Alcantara, Bryant, Baez, Russell, Castro, Rizzo, Soler, and Schwarber. That doesn't even include Almora who could still pan out. Obviously the likelihood they all make it and no one is traded is small but it's fun to dream!

Not sure if y'all have heard or not, but this is pretty cool.

In a 30 minute span, Kris Bryant, Javier Baez, Addison Russel, and Jorge Soler hit homeruns.

Looks like Baez is going to be our future second basemen.

Also, if Soler can finish through August with the numbers he's putting up, I wouldn't be shocked to see him, Bryant, and Baez get September call ups.

Baez will be the only one of those three that has a chance of being in Chicago this season.

Why wouldn't Bryant come up in September? Don't players have to play a certain amount of games before it's counted as a year of service time (and if so, don't they have to play in more games than they would as a September call-up?)?

That's just what I've heard. Chicago Cubs insider was on the Cubs-DBacks broadcast last night, and he said to not expect Bryant this year. He added "for a multitude of reasons", but didn't expand on it at all.

I can guess that the Cubs will try to postpone bringing most of these players to the majors until June of next year. That delays the 3 year arbitration clock and the 6 year free agency clock from starting. For a star type player that could amount to maybe $15 million. Good example is Gregory Polanco of the Pirates this year.

Nah, I think Soler has a pretty damn good chance of coming up in September. He already has a major league contract, is making AA is ***** right now and needs the at bats after missing two months with hamstring injuries. It may not happen but there are plenty of reasons why it would.

He needs minor league at bats, not at bats in the bigs.

IMO, he is going to have to prove that he can stay healthy in the minors for the rest of the year and then will be given a chance to make the team in Spring Training.
