Said it hurt the street cred a "little bit" I mean it can't help any. (and yes we will be completely fine)
I understand Kane and Melvin will probably end up somewhere.
But when recruited players see that Hoiberg had the Big12 player of the year, Tourney MVP and Newcomer of the year not get called....Its kind of a head scratcher.
How many of those 200 players 2nd round projected had stats and awards in one of the best leagues in the country like our guys? I think that is what people are getting frustrated about.
I like their chances as a free agent though.
we shall see![]()
How so? Other than the rah rah of hearing your name called there are no doors closed to anyone because a team drafts a guy that is stashed in Europe for a few years. Better to go undrafted than get picked in the 2nd round. With no guaranteed contracts, it's better to get to pick your spot.I think you should only be able to draft players that will be in the NBA or D-league net year. That stashing stuff is ******** and screws guys from over here who have worked their *** off at a high level of competition.
Exactly. Can't Cyclone fans just be disappointed that their guys didn't get drafted, whether expected or not? Good thing all these NBA experts popped on this morning to tell us about what was expected. I know about the NBA too, it doesn't mean that I'm not disappointed.
It isn't like we were expecting Ellerman to hear his name last night; Kane did have a shot at being drafted.
I think we all wanted that, but it doesn't mean we should all act like some sort of injustice was carried out just because it didn't happen.

Yeah...people keep saying this but I don't think it's true. Here's a link to the undrafted players who have played at least one game in the league, just change the year to see different years. There's a couple guys like Jeremy Lin and Wes Matthews who have become solid players but for the most part it's a lot of guys who never did anything, and there's no doubt that more second round picks stick in the league than undrafted guys.

Wow... This thread brings it.
I think it's pretty obvious why a guy like Marble gets drafted over a guy like Kane. First, it is pretty clear from the draft that the NBA respects the type of ball played in the B10 more so than the B12. Second, Marble was a damn good player now. Imagine how good he would have been at the collegiate level if he were Kane's age... I mean it really is a huge advantage to be that much older than the guys you're playing against. It's all about what a player can become at the NBA level, and it's clear at his age Marble has a greater upside.
Paraprhasing Jalen Rose last night: it's a privilege, not a right to get to play in the NBA and get drafted. Lots of good players don't get drafted.
If the team's don't think a guy is good enough to justifying eating up limited cap space and roster spots, why should they be forced to take on a guaranteed contract or camp spot?

He also said something along the lines of "What about the guys I've been watching all year" when comparing guys like Ejim and Kane to some of the foreign players taken. They aren't picking the better prospects a lot of times. They are picking these guys so they don't have to pay anyone. It's a joke. If you want your name in the draft you should have to be here to play next season or in the summer league if you are drafted.
No foreign guys work hard. Got it.
I'm going out on a limb, but I'll say 1461 days, depending on how many leap years during the span.I didn't say that. They were rolling some stats across there and they were dreadful. I get the whole ceiling thing but there was a guy picked at 21 who was said to be 4 years away from even being ready to play. Do you know how long 4 years is?
They don't have to pay second round picks anyway. There's no guaranteed contracts for them, the number of jobs available isn't changing. If Ejim and Kane had been drafted and Marble passed over, no one would be on here calling for full scale changes to the way the NBA drafts. There's a lot of really, really good basketball players who don't make the league every year.
I won't bother mincing words here. That's just stupid to say that they value B10 ball more than B12 ball, unless that's why the B10 follows every conference these past few years by a huge, vast difference in picks.
When he's on, Marble is a nice scorer. He can't do much else, he's not consistent, and he lacks heart. Congrats to him for tricking someone into a shot, but he's not a pro.
