Redshirt? For what it's worth - I have several friends who played D1 ball and one who, I found out today, is related to Giorgos. He said that he wouldn't be surprised if Giorgos is a one and done.

Ya, I mean I'm not ready to say 1 & done, but Fred offered within a week of this kid coming on his radar. Something tells me that Fred likes what he sees.

Hopefully Fred finds a system where we utilize each player to the best of their ability to create mismatches and we see a sensible and healthy rotation of players off the bench. Would like to see more than the same 5 players play all year, just don't wanna see that crash and burn ala McCaffery style

What makes you even think this? After 4 years of each, it is pretty clear that Fran and Fred are very different coaches, and take a very different approach to the game. So, this statement really puzzles me - alot.

Watching the Heat game intrigued me, Chris Bosh is 6'11" & 235 lbs for size comparison. Also slow release. Just sayin....

Well he can't be one and done because he's only 17, and you have to be 19.

And by the time he's 19, the rule could be 20.

Whatever. I suppose my giving away basketball tickets to some CF people this year was just a drawn out and expensive way not blow my cover. Genius.

Thanks for those again by the way. BentStick did have an ex D1 player with him when I met him btw.

Who knows what is going on in a Euro players head? Maybe he wants a year away from his home country and that's it.

Fred hasn't really busted on any of the guys he's brought in during his time here. He knows how to evaluate talent and I don't see any downside in this commitment, only a lot of potential upside. In 2-3 years after we win the championship, this thread will be revived and people will look back and laugh.

He's hit the transfer market, the juco market and the hs market. Now, he's going international. What is there that Fred can't do?

Percy

I can't believe how on topic this thread has remained. This is just a really weird thread. So un-cf like.

"(i) The player (A) is or will be at least 19 years of age during the calendar year in which the Draft is held"

He was born in 1996. He will turn 19 in the calendar year 2015.

Percy was a late signee who Mann brought with him. Dayton was about his only other offer of note from what I can recall. He flashed early, mainly because of Royce. He never progressed, but not because he wasn't a good athlete or had no b-ball skills. He just didn't seem to want to put in the effort that you need at this level.

That's not on Fred, IMO.

Yep. And Percy can't Hoiball.

Have you ever heard the expression that it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool then to speak and remove all doubt?

His opinion is just as valid (and more based on reason IMHO) than the posters thinking he comes in and plays 15 minutes a game next year.

Yep guys that evaluate basketball players for a living identified him as a legit college prospect and then Fred saw enough to want to offer within a week.

But I'm sure some of our posters are working with more info.

Prospect. Not can't miss, not McDs AA, none of those lofty accolades. But a prospect. And all those scouts? Go back over the last drafts and see how many young europeans were drafted AND played in the NBA... They were all prospects.

This kid is tall and apparently has skills that CAN DEVELOP OVER TIME. I would bet he is NOT a meaningful contributor his first year. And maybe not his second year. Why? Because of the long line of talented prospects that needed time to figure out the game. CFH does not walk on water. There are MANY coaches - Mark Few at Gonzaga for example - that make their hay with european players. And very few of them come in and become contributors when they are not yet 18.

We put too much pressure on these kids because we think CFH could never recruit a kid that doesn't pan out. We have more than a few of them that have passed through. Let the process take place and let those of us who think a 7'1" 17 year old european playing against less than stellar competition will need time to develop have our opinion without the vitriol.

Confusing. So a poster earlier says he doubts this guy contributes much next year and another says he'd be surprised if he isn't a one and done. Huh? Which is it.....somewhere in between? Another has stated he's thin and a "project". Does a 'project' get to the NBA in one year? Or, are all of these just guesses?

So, are you new to the internet or recruit threads? How is wild speculation and people acting like they're NBA scouts from a youtube video new to you?

Yes, Yes. Yes. Most posts on this board are.
