I'm excited to get this kid. I really liked the 2nd scouting video better than the first one posted.

However, I will believe this when I actually see him in a Cyclone uniform. Seems that these foreign guys never make it here.

Another excellent post.

Don't forget - it's the NBA scouts that are steering him to Fred, so there must be something pretty special they are seeing, potential-wise, at least.

I'm pretty fired up for this recruit!

I guess we could go with some bizarre theory that the NBA scouts tipped Fred off to him as part of a plot to trick Fred into committing to an untalented scrub player in order to devalue him in future NBA coaching negotiations.

Typing that hurt my brain.

Great pick up. A 7' guy who is willing and able to run the floor is worth it alone; add in what looks to be some shooting skills and I'm sold.

From April on what we were really looking for were graduate transfers (BDJ and Lee), and after that 2015 guys. Even if this guy plays minimally this year he's eligible if needed and will have a year in the program to develop for next season. And if he is ready, all the better.

Score!!

For those wondering about his name, it is Georgios. Giorgos (or Yorgos) would be like a nickname (like Mike and Mikey for someone named Michael). I would know, my name is Georgios as well!

For those thinking he won't contribute right away, just look at his game. I know it was against lesser competition, but here is what I saw:
+seems to run well for a guy his size
+good shooting range (a bit slow on the release, but I'm sure Fred can fix that)
+good free-throw shooting (usually a liability with some big guys)
+willing to run the floor
+willing to play defense
+looks like he might have a decent hook shot (and a lefty hook shot at that)

-needs to add weight
-work on quicker shot release
-unknown passing ability

All in all, I think a great pick and any flaws he has can be easily fixed. Even if he is not an absolute force defensively, having him will alter a lot of opponent's shots, even if he just stands there with his arms outstretched. Really hopes he plays for us!

I also think I remember Fred mentioning several times this season when going up against larger opponents that it's tough/nearly impossible to replicate the height that teams like Baylor/KU had. This won't be an issue now in practices and scrimmage situations.

Do we have even the slightest clue if he's actually coming?

I think before we make him a 1st team B12 or a kid that ends up transferring to a D3 school we should know if he'll ever step foot in Ames.

I'm not going to lie, the other players in his highlight video like YMCA pick up guys.

#12 on his team must have a BMI squarely in the "obese" category.
