Calm down Allen, I would not be mad at all. Disappointed yes but it is what it is. He has risen this program to heights pretty much not seen before, it would suck balls to lose Dreamy but I don't see it happening for a long time. Furious is a little much Allen.

There are a lot of zen people in here who I suspect would not be so zen if he ever did leave. Must we revisit the 5 hours last year when he was a candidate for the Gophers job. It was not pretty.
As for me, if he left you couldn't hate Fred Hoiberg. But it would be incredibly painful. Like I wouldn't be able to watch his new team or read articles about it. It would be the ultimate punch to the gut. It would be like last year's Kansas loss plus last years Ohio State loss plus Georges' injury plus the Michigan State Elite 8 loss plus Larry Eustachy getting fired times one thousand. It would be nice he brought us back to relevance, but most of that would be directly because of him. Think of trying to replace him. Every possible replacement (even the dream ones) would pretty much get 'ehh' as a reaction.

Since the initial thread question is "if he left prior to 2014-15" — If a situation is possible that would motivate him to leave now — I don’t know what it would be. If it happened, I’d be numb and stunned.

Until Fred Hoiberg HIMSELF shows ANY indication that HE has any interest in the NBA in the NEAR future, every single thread about Hoiberg possibly going to the NBA is ridiculous. I can't believe how many of you actually believe crap that the media makes up.

I would have a generalized anger toward the world, and how it operates, but not with Fred. If the Lakers offered me 4m a year, I'm gone.
As long as he is making the decision that best benefits him and his family, I would be happy for him too. At the same time, I would be a little disappointed and upset. He has the program on an upward trend, but to leave with unfinished business wouldn't make any sense.
Mad, no way. It is Fred Hoiberg for gods sake, an absolute legend at ISU. I think people fail to realize that only Fred knows what his ultimate professional goals are. It very well could be to win a championship at the highest level of basketball, which is the NBA. He has had the best four year stretch of any coach in ISU basketball history. He may be ready for the ultimate challenge of winning an NBA title. He spent 10 years in the NBA as a player and then a few more in the front office. So, he spent far more time in the NBA than the four years he was at ISU. He will make the best decision for himself and his family. If that decision involves coaching in the NBA I support his decision 100 percent.

But how happy is he to be here? I need to know on the scale of Gene Chizik to Johnny Orr.
