NBA: *** Official 2014 NBA Playoffs Thread ***

does any one else think the wizards can going to the finals?

No, but they've been way better in the postseason than I thought they would be. But coaching matters in the playoffs, and guys like Spo, Vogel (assuming Indy can get out of the first round), and Kidd have been here before. Prior to the Bulls series, Randy Wittman had never even been to the playoffs as a head coach.

Heat cruise into the second round and will get a week to rest. And Indiana wow, not even showing up tonight.

i think the heat sleepwalk their way to the finals. Not because of how they're playing..the conference is just that bad. So it's very possible that beating the bobcats, raptors, and wizards will get them to the finals. That's just pathetic.

I do think wizards have the next best shot but not much of one.

If the Pacers are eliminated, what will the fall out be?

New coaching staff? Outside of that, there's really not a whole lot they can do. They're pretty much locked into the same roster next year with Lance being the only major free agent. Their only real trade asset at this point is Paul George, but they aren't going to be moving him.

That about sums it up. Evan Turner will be a free agent but that experiment has been a disaster, and I don't expect him back next season. They couldn't move Hibbert even if they wanted to, and it's too early to give up on Paul George. We'll see about Lance Stephenson. At the All Star break I would've thought he was a lock to re-sign a big multi year deal with Indy, but now I'm not so sure. There are whispers that he's rubbed some teammates the wrong way with his shot selection and stat chasing. And I could see a team run by stupid people like the Lakers or Timberwolves overpaying for Lance. One big advantage he has: he's a Larry Bird favorite.
Bird himself once said that NBA players tend to tune a coach out after about three seasons; Vogel in his third full year as head coach. If the collapse completes itself in Game Six and the Pacers head home, I bet Bird will start over with another head coach and tinker with the roster as much as he can to find some more offense.
