Me and my roommate won't be leaving for spring break until Saturday and are looking for a fish fry to eat at this Friday. If anybody knows of any in or around Ames that would be great.

It's not a fish fry (because they bake the fish) but Saint Thomas' Aquinas church has a fish dinner every Friday. I can't remember if it was all you can eat but it is pretty decent and it goes to the Knights of Columbus. There's also the Mucky Duck pub which I have heard has excellent fish and chips. I haven't eaten there but with all this hype I plan on checking it out soon.

My grandfather runs the fish fry in Lamont, IA every year. It's definetly not just a wisconsin thing. We have family that travels from Chicago to help out on good Friday. Its about family and faith, no matter the religion. I thoroughly enjoy it every year.

Sacred Heart in Boone has good ones during Lent. Not sure of their schedule. I have hit it up before, though. Great fish, baked taters, Mac & cheese. Worth it.
