Lazard and media silence

Hawk fan calls in concerned that Lazard won't get a shot in the NFL since ISU can only have bad QBs. Hopefully someone discovers that Demaryius Thomas kid from an entirely run oriented team. I'm worried QB play is gonna keep him from being drafted.

Lol, not sure how I should feel about the specific invitation but they sure have themselves worked up over this don't they.

This happens every 6 months in Omaha when Pelini issues a media ban for some reason or other. The media uniformly whines and ******* for awhile then eventually bends over and does everything Pelini tells them to. It won't be any different in this case.

I don't really care if the media doesn't like it.

This is how I picture Cyclonepride with his radio and tv when the news/sports comes on.

Too bad ISU doesn't have their own television channel or radio programming to let the fans hear from AL if he has a big game, etc. Oh wait, they do. Media may be off limits, but I bet John Walters, Erik Heft, etc. are not off-limits.

This. I become less interested in the other local media by the month with all of the content on channel 798. Plus the cyclones.com and cyclonefanatic.com web sites. This whole affair hurts the other print, tv, and radio guys because they are already becoming less relevant. And in this case their pointed coverage of Lazard's verbal commitment ended up harming themselves. Self-inflicted wounds always hurt the most.

Doesn't bother me at all. I'm not a big fan of player interviews for the most part anyways. Yeah, there are usually a few articulate guys that sometimes have something good to say, but for the most part, what do you ever learn by hearing a basic interview from an athlete. I mean what are they ever really going to say that any of us need to know?

I can't ever think of a basic postgame interview where I really learned anything I didn't already know. At best, the player comes off decent. Worst case, you just add fuel to any fire already started because the guy didn't answer the question like you wanted.

The bad thing, I can see the media even scrutinizing him more, just because they don't have access to him, especially in Iowa, where the major paper and radio love to find anything ISU to bash.

i disagree with this. The players make the game and I enjoy getting to know them a little better through interviews. What I didn't particularly enjoy was the standard woody interview even when he didn't have a significant role in the game but on whole, I like the player perspective win or lose. Go watch the media day clips done by the players from last summer, it was great.

Geez, now I feel a little butt hurt because some people that posted on here got called out and asked to phone in and I wasn't put on that list even though I started this thread. Its okay, I put myself on a radio ban that doesn't allow me to call in for one year.

Lazard can just let his play speak for him this next year. I think that with QB, Montgomery, and the rest that the expectations for Lazard are mild and we'll get to see a couple of highlight catches through the season. It won't be a 500-600 yard season. Start slow and will bring it towards the end of the season. He isn't the savior of the program, he is a nice building block that will help the program take the next step.

Interesting. Seems like media haven't gotten over this yet...

John Sears just did a story on the Valley High Girls' basketball team. When the camera cuts back to Keith, he says something like "great story about the Valley Girl's team John", then turns to the camera and says "and HE's from Dowling...".

Just struck me as funny. "See? He can be unbiased". Riiiiiiiggggghhhhhttt...

These guys sound like children. Seriously, why do Cyclone fans bother with WHO, KXNO, the Rag? Sounds like they trash us even worse just to get us to listen. Root canal sounds preferable to this drivel.

The media is just getting bent out of shape because CPR called them out. They rip on coaches, players and schools, yet when they get the tables turned they get all pissy.

The media spent the last 6 months trying to make a story where there wasn't one.

We'd like to invite those of you who have strong feelings about Rhoads' comments regarding Lazard to call, email and tweet our show, today.

There was no point at calling and going against those 2. I like there show part of the time but there are times when they are flat out rude to callers and listeners.

In all fairness, a bunch of the WHO staff are Cyclone fans. It's the only local news I watch.
