Pollard On Student Section

I just think it is too bad that the students can't fill the sections every game, when you have a top 25 team. Especially when they are playing another top 25 team, and playing in the best conference there in the country.

I just don't get it. Only about 11 percent of the students buy tickets to basketball, which is pretty bad, but then they can't even show up for a big game like this, or a good team like this? I don't care what argument someone tries to make to defend that......it's pretty weak.

That's all the athletic department sells. If they sold more, I guarantee you more students would buy tickets. Use them consistently? That's another story.

I wonder what the students excuse is this week? They missed a heck of a game.

(talking about balcony empties)

Because it is a persistent problem, and students had complained that the AD's solution for it was unfair. Looks like Pollard hasn't gone far enough?

And I'm certain there would be no complaining if the shoe were on the other foot, and it was the students watching on TV looking at empty seats held by alumni or other adult season tix holders.

Keep in mind, the students' empty seats always look worse because they don't have assigned seats. If the rest of Hilton's seats were first-come-first-serve, there would be a bigger gap too. Empties are spread out otherwise. Students' empty seats are definitely a higher percentage of their section, though.

They should get rid of the all sports pack and just split it up into basketball and football. That way if you really want to go to basketball games you buy it separately.

Remember when people were laughing that I was saying the student section wasn't going to be anywhere close to full an hour and fifteen minutes before tip? That was funny.

Maybe it's because those adults could be using those seats? I'm a student btw.

Bingo. I've heard from several people who would like to take their family to games, but are having trouble getting tickets. Seats are in high demand. Why should they be empty when a bunch of students lose interest after a couple of losses.

Wouldn't be 7-8 rows empty all the way around.

Remember when you complained an hour and a half before the doors opened that the student section was already empty? That was a little premature, but very funny.
Lower level was barely even half full and few student were filing in. Common sense told me it wasn't going to be full.

If there are empty seats in the public section, not sure the public is going to be buying unused student section tickets if they were made available to the public...might be time to follow our friends and offer free pizza at games!

Which is why they need to make the 15-20 minute walk to Hilton.

I was there, and pretty close to that section and it was well over 200. I'd say much closer to 1000 then to 200.

Re: Student section

Do you think Fred comes to CF for tips? Why even have a game thread? You have almost 4k posts and are not familiar with message boards.

Nevertheless, I am not sure there is a better place, besides taking an ad out in the Daily. Unless you are contending that students on CF do not know any current students who do not go to games, discussing the empty seats in the student sections with CF students is appropriate.

I personally know no students who have tickets that don't go to the games. A lot of my friends have tickets and we all go.
