I have no problem with people leaving early if they need too. Not everyone lives in Ames and is 15 minutes away from a meal and cozy room.

Agree with everything except Texas has kicked it up a notch.
Texas has better shooters.
I agree, but unfortunately that player was either Lucca Staiger or Mike Taylor. One of those two players probabaly would have gotten us anywhere from 3 to 5 more wins, which would have been huge at this point in the season.
15 minutes can morph into 45 or an hour pretty easy if you're fighting traffic getting out.
I think a lot more people left early than stayed, though - so I think we actually had it better when we left after the game tonight.
I understand where you're coming from - I just think it must be disappointing to the team.
A few observations:
-KU has "only" 4 players that finished their HS careers as McDonald's AA...not 8 as someone said earlier. They also have one that was a preseason pick but he did not get the honor postseason.
-Nearly every offensive possession we take 15-25 seconds of the shot clock before we ever get the ball inside the 3 point line. Some possessions our offense is nothing more than passing it around outside the 3 point line. We get precious few easy shots...so we have a lot of trouble scoring (I believe we are at about 60 ppg).
-Garrett can push the ball...if he was allowed to. A few times last night he was pushing it up and you could see him pull it out (probably thinking to himself "if I push it...coach is going to take me out of the game")...instead of getting something going toward the goal...we end up with a desperation three late in the clock.
-CJ cannot play post defense on a Big 12 post....he is not tall enough to play behind and he is not quick or strong enough to get around and front the guy...he got caught on Arthur's side last night which lead to very easy buckets for KU last night while he was in there.
-We are really going to miss Rahshon's intensity and effort next year. He plays the game like a warrior...I hope it is rubbing off on some of the other players that don't seem to have the same effort level.

I know I've said this before and I'm sure I'll say it again, but I really hate what the Cyclones do on the offensive end. It's just all dribbling and standing around. All we do is "try" and get it inside to 1 person with the rest of the guys just standing around. Most of 3-point attempts are contested, or come because the player has nothing else to do but shoot. We rarely have people cutting to the basket and almost never make the extra pass. There were at least a couple times last night were the ball was in the post and he never kicked it out to an open guy for a better shot.
Hopefully once we have more guard experience next year this will change, but it sure hasn't improved this season that much.

All I know is KU has way more talent than we do and our coach had us in the game - I think that says something. I can't wait to watch this team when McD has more talent.:biggrin:

We just have to figure out how to attack the Big 12 basket. MVC style does not cut it. Big 12 style scores too many points. Change is on the way to compete.

Watching the exact same game and player positioning, I would have said that he pulled up because he has a)nowhere to go, or b) no one cutting. Several times he drove and got stuck in too deep.
That said, the announcers did note that the guards didn't have their heads up after the inbounds pass or rebound, looking for the guy breaking behind the defenders.
Both also commented repeatedly that Wes is still lacking his normal quickness and explosion. I'd have to agree.
All the fans that leave their seat to watch the game from the concourse area are EQUALLY BAD IF NOT WORSE than the fans that just leave the game. Either way the seats are empty, and I get tired of seeing that concourse area packed with fans before the game is over.
That was the case back in the 80s as well. They had Danny Manning (and actually won a National Championship one year) for four years and our coach found a way for us to BEAT KU EVERY TIME in Hilton.
I told my son last night as we watched the game that I had never been to a game in Hilton where we played KU and lost!
Garrett cut to the basket quite a bit last night. When he had an open lane to the basket, he took it. When he didn't, he passed it back out. Garrett is not a tall player, and attempting to take it to the hoop with a defender in front of him will usually end up bad.
I'm talking about where we had potential fast break opportunities...not after we had set up our offense.
You must have been watching a different game than I was at. I don't remember us ever having numbers to try pushing the ball. The point of pushing the ball on a fast break is to take advantage of numbers. Kansas was too fast at getting back on defense for us to do that. Diante was smart in pulling up instead of trying to force it into a double team.
