What excuse will EIU come up with?

Basically what is going on here is that most clone fans have convinced themselves that Iowa is still in the Lickliter years, and when this Iowa team showed up it shocked them and they assume it was the best they have ever played. They played much better against ND, UTEP, and Nova. Woodbury rebounded well, and hit a nice turnaround, but looked lost on defense a few times and still picks up stupid fouls. Not out of his mind at all. Again, the only person on the team that played above their average level was White.

Denial is such a cute quality to walk around with.

I guess we should be worried that Fran may want to cancel this series like he did to UNI

Gangly white kids; new rule favors the offensive player, so all you gotta do is drive the lane and you get the call.

That is a more legitimate reason than "OMG, ISU got to the line way more times. The refs were totally pulling for ISU to win this game and probably had money on it." ISU attacked more physically, got the line more, missed a ton of FTs, and in the end Iowa choked and should have hit their FTs. Iowa could have easily won this game.

Home team always gets more calls, that is the way it has always been, and always will be.

Fran and Lick both have Zero tournament wins at Iowa.

ISU wins games in the real tournament, you wouldn't understand unless you're old enough to remember.

Here's the main crybaby Hawk excuses I see so far.

1. First of all, lots of 'the better team lost' irrational garbage.
2. They lost because of ft shooting, forget that ISU would have killed them if they shot even 70%
3. ISU is horrible away from Hilton. (my favorite because it's the most dumb)
4. refs
5. Lost because Fran is doing things the wrong way with dirty transfers. (ok I made that one up)

Those are weak excuses. #1 doesn't really matter, if they were better they would have won with us missing 12 free throws and getting horribly out rebounded. #2 ties in to what I said about 1. #3 doesn't make any sense to bring up.
I'm shocked I didn't see #5. Whatever makes them feel better I guess. They get to leave non-con with 0 good wins, better focus on conference season instead of crying about a game I they claim not to care about all the time. Have you found any "football is better" posts yet?

Who was the better basketball team last year?

Iowa made us look pathetic last year, wasn't close and I haven't said anything other.

Or maybe we should just ring up Hokeye fan, ask them who is best at the beginning of the year and screw all the games.

You had your year, NIT and all to enjoy, now crawl back up your hole and try again next year.

For months all people talked about on this board is how Iowa wasnt a good team. I think you sir are in Denial. Both teams are really good!

LOL I was actually thinking the same thing during a few games this year.

It reminds me of Harrison Burgeron where they try and make everyone equal by bringing the smart kids' intelligence level down to the stupid kids' level.

I'm surprised at the lack of class coming from Iowa fans. Really. No sarcasm. Well, a little sarcasm. No, actually none at all.

Typical bandwagon fans coming out of the woodwork, getting upset that they ended their hibernation thumping their chest and lost.

Well our next big game is a football game, so it is natural for Iowa fan to be looking forward to that now. Once our bowl game on Jan 1st is over, against LSU, then I will focus on BB again.

Weren't the announcers saying that Iowa has been making more FTs than the other team attempts in about every game? Refs have clearly been in their pockets all year.

ISU shot almost 36% from three, how much better do you think they're shooting against a team with as much size as Iowa?

Seriously, I know it's impossible to give Iowa any credit at all, but ISU played pretty well tonight. The boxscore doesn't lie. Both teams played a good game, ISU made their ft's down the stretch, Iowa didn't.

Neither team played their best, Kane had his worst game as a Cyclone and the guy came in averaging 15, 8 and 6.

I think ISU actually played pretty bad in all 3 of their good wins, just Niang has been perhaps the best closer in college basketball winning games late for us.

I wonder if the foul disparity was somewhat based on strategy by both sides.

Iowa... Very deep and can give fouls if they have to. Also, we have proven to be an average/borderline bad FT shooting team. Maybe Fran told his guys not to give up easy baskets.

On the flip side, we are not very deep. Especially on the front line. Iowa is an excellent FT shooting team. Maybe Fred told the guys that if you get beat, don't pick up a cheap foul.

Our lack of hustle (maybe fatigue due to lack of depth) certainly led to a lot of easy baskets for Iowa. We were way too far behind the play on most of their breaks to even think about fouling.

Who cares.

Yyyyyep. Conference play starts in what, 3 weeks? Win or lose, the Iowa game is a blip on what might be a nice season.

ISU needs to learn how to look for a good shot when the score is tight/they just need a bucket--they rushed too much, and forced too much one on one in the offense. The shot clock is 35 seconds; that doesn't mean to run down as quickly as possible, pass once, and chuck up another 3.
