I know this was discussed on another thread, but I don't think most of what we saw in the Iowa game were actual "bubble screens" -- I think most of what we saw were WR screens, where one WR blocks for another. The problem is they were poorly executed (thrown 4 feet above the WR) and/or called at the wrong time.

So, I don't think CPR saying he wants more "Bubble Screens" is as bad as it may have initially seemed. It should look like this: A wide out or slot guy (Wimberly comes to mind) comes back toward the QB at the snap at catches it while running then cuts up field in kind of a slanty way. Getting the ball into the hands of your playmaker in stride. It would work well if the corners/safteys are playing pretty loose.

That's my best guess at least.

I can see it now.....................yes........................we are going to catch them off guard.........................Woody up the middle.
My high school football coach would say things like that where a play would fail miserably and he would say he ran it because they wouldn't be expecting it. And I would think to myself, "yeah, they wouldn't expect it because it's a really stupid thing to do." Yeah, we were terrible.

Sam drops back to pass.. Scrambles for 2 yards

OR

Bubble screen that is thrown 3 yards behind the WR causing him to turn around catch it losing 2 yards.

We seem to be REALLY good at these plays.

This is a tough question to answer. How does one try to predict what a risk taker like Mess is going to do? So difficult... yeah a zone read handoff for a 2 yard loss. Yep... definitely going to be a run up the gut for a loss. I don't see any reason to go away from what is working for this offense. :twitcy::eek::realmad::eek::twitcy:

My high school had this type of approach to coaching as well. 90% runs off tackle and his line of thinking is "they are going to think we will change this up, but we will catch them off guard" Usually most of the team was sitting there with dumb looks on their faces as he talked.

Easy with the technical jargon.

James White up the gut for who flips back to SR who flings the ball savagely down the middle for an eight yard game to sneaking through the line James White.

Is he sneaking through the line in kind of a slanty way or just straight ahead?

While I'm not sure what the first play will be, I'm sure my reaction to the first play will be an expletive and a long draw from my beverage.

What are the odds Messingham is writing down all the responses to this thread to actually use in order in the 1st quarter scripted plays?

A run, followed by another run followed by a pass, thrown three yards short of the sticks and lastly a punt, your welcome.
