Breaking Bad

I thought all along that it was an act based on his tears throughout the call.

Him taking Holly was the only way to ensure that she would actually pick up the phone, too, and to ensure that it would all be on record with the police.

Skylar picked up on the act and played along. She knows that he was trying to help her save the family.

Walt is a very, very smart man. And he truly cares about his family. It is killing him that they are scared of him/hate him.

Completely agree with everything you say here!! It was cool to see breakfast boy step up and protect his mom in this episode. Wow... it keeps getting better and better and I give up on trying to figure out how it ends. I knew the Nazis were gonna take Jesse, but I didn't think they were gonna kill Hank. Should have figured though.

Does anyone else think that Walt is going to need some serious help in fighting the Nazis? I mean, the guy barely knows how to handle a .38 revolver, let alone that cannon he is packing in the trunk coming up. Maybe Saul sets him up with some allies for this fight.

Obviously at this point Walt isn't going to win. Walt just lost his family, and that and the money were the whole point of everything that he did. It was a great episode, but it's too bad it ended that way. Skylar totally overreacted to Marie when she showed up at the car wash, she should have kept her mouth shut and waited for everything to play out. That includes not telling junior. Hank's death is on Jesse not Walt. Jesse and Skylar both brought down the house of cards, not Walt.

Yes, BUT... if Skylar and the kids get to live comfortably the rest of their lives and be happy then Walt DOES win. That is what he wants.

Walt has saved Skyler and the kids (obviously would be in protective custody after this), but lost them forever. He still has one job as their provider: get the money back. That's why he didn't divulge what happened to Hank, he doesn't want the police to know about the Nazis. He's got a score to settle.

I am convinced now more than ever he comes back to the house to get the ricin for himself. He plans on taking the Nazis out, and wants to be sure if it doesn't pan out he isn't captured and put into a position where the Nazis can threaten Skyler and the kids in order to force him to cook for them, after he had given the family up forever the way he did in tonight's episode. I think he believes Jesse is dead, and will only find out at the end of the finale, that by killing the Nazis for the money, he saved Jesse too.

Jesse will see to it that Skyler and the kids get the dough, just like Mike taught him to.

I agree. He knows he has no control over these people. He begged them to let Hank live and that didn't work. He will take them out just in case they decide to get his family. AND in doing so, he notices Jesse still alive and decides to let Jesse go free after they have the most dramatic chat in TV history. I also believe that Walt will make a new video confession, and sends a copy to his family. This confession will clear things up and help Jr. understand why he did this. You know that having his son have bad feelings towards him will eat him up inside. He lays low long enough for his hair to grow out before returning to ABQ. Plenty of time to think of the perfect things to say in his video. In the end, his family does not agree with the things he has done, but they understand why he did them. Jesse lives. The White family lives. Walt dies while taking out the Nazis... Yep, I decided that's how it will go down!

That's true. But a full win would have been him living out his days with his family. Walt did care about his legacy, and now that is totally destroyed. But yeah overall you are right, security for his family was the ultimate goal.

I'm still on Team Walt. Hanks death is Jesse's fault...not Walts. Walt did everything he could. Walt telling Jesse about Jane is Walts way of getting back at him for involving Hank like he did. Walt is still a family man...he wants his family, he wants his family taken care of. He's still a drug dealer, murderer but hey..I hope he wins.

"... maybe now you'll listen! Maybe now you'll use your head!..."

Pretty key line in Walt's monologue that gives it away as an act. If you re-watch it, take notice of Skylar's tone and language before and after that line.

Edit: Just now looking into what Ozymandias is actually all about. Jesus, Vince Gilligan is clever.

I agree with the posts above which predict Walt comes back to ABQ for the money. Throughout the entire series it has always been about the money and essentially nothing else.

Walt said he had 80 million dollars buried and he would give the Nazis all of the money if they DIDN'T kill Hank. Well, he killed Hank and then still took the money. Out of pity, he gave Walt one barrel or 11 million dollars. The Nazis were told not to come, not to kill Hank (for 80 million dollars), and to kill Jesse but they didn't do any.

I also agree with the posts which say Walt will run into Jesse at the Nazi operation and he will save Jesse, thus winning over everyone's heart one last time. In the process of getting his money back, Walt will save Jesse, Jesse will give the money to Skyler, and Walt is never heard from again.

The biggest question I'm not sure about is what will happen with Todd. What will Todd do when Walt turns on his uncle? Who's side will he take?

I'm thinking that the last episode will actually start with the scene where he goes back into the house to get the risen. There is a lot of stuff that needs to happen in the next two episodes.

On a side note, I was all excited about Dexter a few months ago. This Breaking Bad final season has made Dexter look like a joke.

Todd keeps Lydia in the cage after Jesse is saved.

After last night I think the next episode opens the way the half season premier opened with the Ricin. Not much to tell between last night and when he returns.

Agree with a lot of what's being said in the thread. IMO the family aspect is cleared up after that phone call. He really only needs to figure out how to get the money to them(Better call Saul).

I think the last 2 episodes will be about Walt reclaiming his empire and getting revenge against Jesse and the Nazi's. I don't see the, relatively, sunshine and rainbows ending where Walt & Jesse kiss and make up. Jesse won't forgive him for setting up the hit and Walt will never forgive him for being a rat. It will also infuriate him to know that they let Jesse live. I think the gun in the trunk is for the Nazi's and the Ricin is for Jesse. He'll see that as a fitting way to finish Jesse off since he poisoned Brock with Ricin too.

Tried to keep that short, but there is a lot going on.

I think I know why Walt took Skylar's maiden name. After he dies he will leave his family the money claiming he was a long lost uncle or distant cousin. His family no longer has drug money ties, but is still well taken care of.

I find it odd that anyone would think that Jesse and Walt kiss and make up. Walt already pointed the Nazi's to Jesse hiding under the car, and then told them to pull the trigger on him with the gun to his head. It was Todd who stopped Jesse from being killed, not Walt. I don't see a happy reunion there in any way.

The next episode is titled 'The Granite State', whose state motto happens to be "Live Free or Die"
Robert Frost was from New Hampshire.
In his poem, 'Nothing Gold Can Stay', the idea of felix culpa has been written.
Felix Culpa per wiki decribes about how a series of unfortunate events will eventually lead to a happier outcome.
Don't know how Walt getting a new pair of eyeglasses fits into anything.

How 'Felina', the name of the final episode, falls into this I don't know. Thought it maybe was synonymous to felix culpa, but doesn't appear to be so.

Frickin great TV. Will be so missed.
