Oh yeah, I forgot budgeting as well. How could an AD budget for the future if they might suddenly be making only a fraction of their TV money if they get relegated?

That idea would never happen nor would it be good for ISU. So not sure why you are infatuated with it.

I know it would never happen. But it is probably one of the more fair systems that someone has come up with. I would like this more than the Division 4 setup as a College Football fan. As an Iowa State fan, it sucks because we would probably never get up to the top tier.

Maybe split it up evenly throughout? :jimlad: Actually I have no idea.

I'm not saying this would ever happen or could ever happen. I just like the idea and like to entertain it every once in a while.

You like the idea that your favorite team could be relegated? **** that.

Interesting read ISUCyclones2015, but I agree with IAStubborn - we should be happy that it will never happen because it is bad for ISU.

After the first season when Kansas gets relegated and Baylor gets moved up, ISU would be right there in the mix with Illinois and Minnesota for relegation to the lowest tier.

It may only be a matter of time (5 years) before ISU spends a season in "League Three" playing the Eastern Michigans and Rices of the world.

Just saw this little nugget from Dennis Dodd that is vague, but
interesting:

"Big Ten expansion: It isn't done. That's about all
I can say. Hint: The conference will begin negotiating on a new TV deal next
year. The current contract expires in 2016. Definitely stay
tuned." Dennis Dodd

Not surprising. I don't think Big Ten expansion will be done until they expand their footprint into the southern recruit pool.

If the ACC GOR is nullified for some reason, then Dodd's claim may be credible. Otherwise, it's likely BS.

And ACC GOR is based upon an ACC-Network, which ESPN and Fox have all but stated they have zero interest in. So with no network, there is no GOR, which means the poaching will begin around October.

Is that true that no network has any interest? Why would teams sign up before they had a deal pretty much in the bag? I find it hard to believe they wouldn't get a TV deal but who knows.

The B1G going after the ACC might actually be good news for the Big 12. After the B1G gets UVa and GT or whoever, maybe Florida State and Clemson come back on the table for us.

But the B1G might want FSU, and FSU wants the B1G. There were just as many rumors to that as there was skepticism.

It would be really great, though.

Where did you see that ESPN stated they had no interest?

There may be potential that the ACC Network doesn't come to fruition which could void the ACC GOR but I don't think ESPN has already ditched the project.

Sometimes you gotta think from an unbiased point of view.
why? Not on this subject. Its not like you are the commissioner. This would ruin ISU and guarantee us failure forever. Plus it's a bad idea even if your not biased because we don't have a draft. Recruiting in the bottom league or for teams on the edge would completely derail meaning the top 8 teams in each division would always be there and everyone else would fight to have a year to get beat up by the big boys. No thanks.

I think in that type of setup you would do a super scholarship where you can pay 10 or so players. It would balance the recruiting out quite a bit.

I don't think recruiting would be that balanced at all because the leagues at the top would have a lot more incentive to cheat. I also think good players on teams in the 2nd and 3rd leagues might be more likely to transfer to teams in the top league to try for a championship. I think regulation only works when you can play players otherwise what can colleges really offer players in the bottom leagues? The hope that the team might be promoted to the top league and then they might be able to for a championship.

The other big problem is do you keep the conferences for the rest of the sports or do they go to this model too?
