NBA: *** NBA Playoffs Thread V2.0 ***

Win or lose, these playoffs have shown the Heat not to be a dynasty or one of the all-time great teams like ESPN desperately tries to convince us.

The Jordan/Pippen/Rodman Bulls, the Showtime Lakers, the Bad Boys and the mid 80's Celtics would all take this team apart. The Kobe/Shaq Lakers and Spurs in their prime are better as well.

No, they wouldn't.
Interesting games for sure but like everyone when talking sports, the old guys are always the best.

All the pressure is on the Heat now. Even if they win Game 6 (which is likely given the back and forth nature of this series and their outright maddening on/off switch they seem to enjoy using), that means they're stuck in a high pressure scenario where they're expected to win because of home court advantage. It's the difference between adding to a championship legacy (Spurs) and trying to build one (Heat). If you're a Spurs fan or a Heat hater, you have to like the way this is shaking out.

In my opinion, the Spurs need to win Game 6 or they will lose the series. There is no way they can beat Miami on its home floor in a Game 7 situation.

I don't think beating the Heat in game 7 would be any more difficult than any other game for the spurs. With the veteran leaders they have it is very possible. These guys are champions. We aren't talking about a young OKC team here.

That's a nice opinion and all, but since the 1983 season, home teams are 46-10 in playoff Game 7s.

And the numbers are even more lopsided in Finals Game 7s - the home team is 14-3 in that regard. But I get Gravy79's point. if any team is poised to buck the stats, it's the Spurs. Multiple players with multiple Finals appearances...the moment certainly won't be too big for them like it would be for a younger team there for the first time.

It won't be too big for the the stars of the Spurs by any means. But the stars aren't really the ones carrying the Spurs right now. For Green, Leonard, and Neal it would be by far the biggest game of their careers, on the road, playing against a Heat team that doesn't have to worry about saving energy for the next game.

Role players always play better at home, so I expect Miami's role players to play better. I expect a close game for game 6 with the Spurs winning. If they don't win though, I think they get their ***** handed to them in game 7.

How do you figure, if the spurs way past their prime are doing it, how would they in their prime not. (confusing sentence is confusing i know)

Because the championship Spurs teams were mostly predicated on defense. The last two years of Spurs team however have some incredibly deadly offensive weapons while still being a good defensive team.

Also because Parker wasn't in his prime for the Spurs championships. He is now.

Potential Finals MVP Tony Parker respectfully disagrees with your opinion. Green and Neal are lighting it up, no denying that. They're also cashing in on great looks created by Pop's system and good passes from Ginobili, Parker, and Duncan. The Spurs still go as their Big Three go, you just have to go beyond who's putting the ball in the basket.

If the finals were to end today, Danny Green would be finals MVP. Not only has his shooting been great which allows him to be their leading scorer, but he's been arguably their best defender as well. He's blocking shots and getting steals while rebounding ok for a guy his size.

I'm sorry, but if the Spurs win and Green doesn't win MVP assuming he continues his 3 point efficiency, it will be the biggest finals mvp travesty I can remember (and that includes the BS Kobe mvp in 2010 that should have went to Pau)

The guy is shooting 66% from three! It's not like he's taking 2 threes a game either.

Oh, and he also plays defense unlike Parker.

I was more referring to the old saw about Michael, Magic, Larry, etc having their way with today's players.

He'll win if he's the absolute reason they win one of the next two, if not, no chance.
There's a pecking order to these things.

Spurs Big Four beat the Heat Big Three last game.
