NBA: *** NBA Playoffs Thread V2.0 ***

I hope not, and not because of Crawford's alleged bias against the Spurs and Tim Duncan in particular. I just don't think he's a very competent ref and his antics and quick whistle contribute to the games he calls getting out of control.

I agree, but so far in these playoffs we've seen that after a game where the officials let them play quite a bit, that the next crew tends to call a tighter game. For whatever reason, Crawford still seems to be highly regarded in the nba front office (maybe he knows where the bodies are buried so to speak)

As far as I'm concerned the officials who did the last game can do every game, I thought they were pretty good minus a few missed calls which are going to happen in any game.

Seems like the appropriate thread for this:

Agreed. I thought the flow of game 1 was pretty good. I hate any game where the officiating takes center stage. But you're right, Joey Crawford usually gets at least one Finals game per year. Which means Game 2 or Game 3 will probably be a gawdawful mess a la Heat/Pacers game 4.

How's this for a trip into the past? (And into bad hairstyles galore!)

Dang, Tony Parker is ageless. Can you imagine being a fan of a team that had same people for many years?

An Iowa native friend of mine randomly became a huge Patriots and Spurs fan around 1993...always amazes me. Obviously he's never had a reason to jump ship, but what luck picking a couple pro teams to follow well before their long and drawn out stretch of titles with no geographic basis for doing so. He does live in Texas now but well after becoming a Spurs fan.

Any predictions for Game 2? I'll go with 98-93 Heat. I don't think Miami will lose two in a row at home to start this series. I do think Spurs win in 6 though.

Miami probably wins game 2 but damage is done. If Spurs hold serve at home series is over. 2-3-2 is dumbest series format in sports.

How many times have the Heat lost a game at home this playoffs? They have shown that they can win on the road.

Chris B is all stressed out per yardbarker. He needs to bring it.

To me the biggest thing to watch is if wade continues to turn down jump shots. He had 4-5 Thursday that you could see he wanted to take, and normally would. But you could see that he doesn't trust his lift.

If I'm the Spurs, I let bosh take as many jump shots as he can handle. No reason to adjust until he proves he can make you pay

They're a far from dominant 7-3 at home in the 2013 playoffs; if they blow this one tonight they're in serious trouble. They could take four out of five after that to win the series, but I sure as hell wouldn't bet money on it with the next three games in San Antonio. For what it;s worth, the Spurs are 6-1 at home in the 2013 playoffs.
