Agree on all accounts. I tend to think Fran would be on the hot seat though if he doesn't make the tourney. We need to remember how low our programs were when lick and chewbaca were at the helms.
Btw if monte is one of the best point guards in the country he won't be worried about not getting playong time.

i love Custer signing....I think he's going to be a handful to hold off for a starting job. I just like the idea of him and Morris develop over 4 years and getting that time.
So if you admit there is no guarantee we win anymore games WITH Kane....tell me what the value is in playing him, and sitting Morris who will have 3 more years numerous minutes on the bench? What is gained by that?
Who has told you that Kane coming here will take away minutes from Morris?
If Fred wants him to come here he'd be doing it because he thinks he will help him win us games. Doubt he's doing it to hinder someone's development or hurt a players future.
The value of playing Kane is that Fred thinks he can help Iowa State win games. That is it.
There is absolutely nothing to suggest Kane will be taking monte's minutes, that monte deserves 30+ mpg, that he can effectively play that many minutes, or if he plays 15-20 as opposed to 25-30 it will somehow hinder his development. I seriously can't believe this is even an argument.

LMFAO! Ok first of all you play the best players reguardless of age, it's college basketball you win now not build for the future.
Kane doesn't effect Morris, Morris is a PG and Kane isn't. Sure Kane had to play there at Marshall, just like Allen/Christopherson/White had to play it here.
We could easily start three guards again, and Kane would be a great option to slide over to PG when Morris needs a break. He can and would still take his lumps as a freshman. Kane coming in no way means than Morris/Thomas/SDW won't be playing.
If Kane takes away someone's minutes, that means he's better. Do you really have a problem with playing the better player? He's a senior, the other guys are freshman. You can't expect greatness out of freshman sometimes they need to adjust and develop. He won't in any way ruin their future, if anything he'd help make them better.
As for Iowa, they return the same unathletic team. I'm not scared. Talent > coaching, oh and we have a great coach too on top of being more talented. No way we lose to them in Hilton.

Can you please demonstrably show me ANY recruit with any sort of guarantee. I will guarantee you won't because you can't yet that is your new threshold.
What is your "message" here? You endless changing position is hard to pin down(almost as if you are trolling). The post I replied to you admitted if Kane landed here he WOULD help team, but now you want a guarantee. You didn't like Kane because of the "message" to Morris, but are unmoved by future recruiting messages. Twisting, turning, trolling?
I then gave you a hypothetcial(which is exactly how you are waxing poetic: a hypothetical with your imaginary hypos) that had a "message" and instead of addressing the "message" issue you worm away to a new "challenge".

I agree with LLcoolJ a few pages back saying that if anything he would be taking playing time away from Naz and Bubu. Maybe a minute or two each from Monte and Thomas.
Is that necessarily a bad thing? The frosh need breathers regardless of how good they are. And weren't people just saying we were in trouble if Bubu was our PG? How many time have I heard he's just a role player. Well if that is truly the case, then isn't it a good thing if a better player can take some of his minutes?

I just want to throw out the point that if Fred passes up on these transfers with the amount of youth coming in your basically telling Melvin "hey pal I appreciate what you've done for this university but we're going to have to have your senior year be a rebuilding year because we're excited about how good they could be" rather than trying to surround him with the best team possible which he deserves...
The staff should just Redshirt Melvin this upcoming year so we have him in 14-15.
