NBA: *** NBA Playoffs Thread V2.0 ***

Hate to say it but 21 has some points what AP did following ACL surgery is how all others will be judged. The fact that the 1 year date of his surgery in coming up and he's not out there is a joke. He is scared. AP was playing football much tougher game of the two within 8-9 months.

yes, but AP is a freak. People's bodies heal at different rates.

Now why do you hate to say it?

Derek Rose is a freak too and has been healed for nearly 3 months now. It's mental with him. He should be playing. No excuse not to.

Just got done getting caught up on the Heat vs Bulls game (fast forward most of the 2nd half). Lebron James is far away the best player in the NBA today. With that said, a lot of people talk about how great he is on defense and how he can guard every position. Well he can be asked to guard every position because of his size but he doesn't guard them all well. Every time Boozer got the ball with Lebron guarding him, he scored. In my opinion Shane Battier is a far better defender on that team, but he's never going to get the steals and blocks that Lebron gets and thus the credit. Just my thoughts on it.

Bulls really have to find some offense because when the Heat can get stops, rebound, and run.....they are unbeatable

Don't agree with take on DRose's acl, but agree with everything on LeBron, as good and unstoppable as LeBron is he still hasn't developed into an elite post scorer and defender. Now part of that is because he's so athletic and skilled he hasn't had to, but if he can transition to it and stay healthy he could completely rewrite the career record book in many categories.

In 3-5 years he won't be able to stick the game's fastest pg with his length anymore, but there's no reason he couldn't be an elite defender against 3-4-5 for a crazy long time. Ditto for scoring inside, he could retool his game to an even greater extent than second 3peat MJ did.

I'm a little confused as to how anyone can think Derek Rose shouldn't be playing right now. He's been cleared, he's been practicing, he's the healthiest player on the team. What's the hold up?

I think he's not playing for similar reasons to Royce White, but he's not being an idiot about it like Royce was.

D-Rose's knee may be healthy, but his mind is obviously in another state. Once he can get over his fear of his knee he will play, until then, fans, other players, and the media need to let him heal.

For me it's because I tore my ACL and didn't feel like I could even jog, let alone go back to serious distance running and soccer (regular sports when I got hurt) when my doctors said I could. It was about 4-5 months later I really felt even 90% of where I was. The guy has laid it on the line his whole career for Chicago, he never takes a play off or gives up no matter how down they are, I give him the benefit of the doubt over most players.

Chicago fans were bagging on Luol Deng for similar reasons 3-4 years ago then he got healthy and had a year where he led the entire NBA in minutes.

It's important for the Bulls that they keep drawing officials that are willing to let the teams play. Lot's of no calls on both ends that probably should have been called fouls. The difference is Miami rotates more players thus spreads the fouls out more.

Didn't get to watch the game but from the sounds of the thread here, it appears what I figured would happen did.

Game 3, hoping that Deng and Hinrich will be available. If Deng is available, then the Bulls can put Deng on James.

With the emergence of Butler and his offense no longer being a liability they have a legit defender for Wade and LeBron. Nobody can really shut LBJ down, but that duo is better equipped than any other team defensively for the Wade/LeBron combo especially when you consider Noah and Gibson playing behind them which is what LeBron himself always mentions.

Sounds like Deng might have been really seriously ill even though he is out of the hospital.

It was two fold. They called actual fouls much more strictly and when the game got chippy they penalized Chicago more for it both with techs and foul calls to calm the action. I think the most flagrant foul of the game was probably...I guess you'd call it a strangle...by Chalmers, so you can't really say Chicago was the team playing more thuggishly like in the win streak snap game.

Example being that Wade threw a ball at a player with no tech, given the techs and touch fouls on Chicago that was pretty ridiculous to let go. I can't imagine any player on the Bulls roster ever being allowed to throw a ball at an opponent with no T.

Problem with Rose not coming back is that he hasn't even given it a shot. I mean why couldn't he have been worked in as little as 5-10 minutes a game at the end of the season? Nobody was expecting him to come back and be "110%" and quite frankly, you're not going to come back that good if you don't even get your feet wet in a game.

I'm not convinced him coming back would make them that much better, if at all right now. The Bulls are where they are because they play hard. I don't know if he would play as hard as the rest of the team, as he has to be healthier than many of the guys on the team.

Mental? Wtf?

Maverick's best friend DIED in a plane crash when Maverick was driving, but he still got back in the cockpit. Goose DIED.

D-Rose just hurt his knee. We aren't talking life and death here. If Maverick can get his mind right and fly again, then damn right that D-Rose can play a little game of basketball.

Cougar lost the edge. So you're saying DRose is Cougar?

Maybe you should just go play beach volleyball for a while.

With Hinrich out I think they're better off even with very rusty Rose if he says he wants to go. They had an amazing effort with a bunch of 2nd and 3rd stringers, but that won't likely happen again without getting at least one of Rose/Hinrich/Deng back.

Wade got a technical.

Not to distract from the Bulls/Heat talk but, anyone watching the Spurs/Warriors game? Things are starting to get interesting.
