I think it's time to get into the craft chili business. The number of "real chili doesn't have beans" snobs is reaching critical mass, just as the number of "real beer drinkers don't drink American style lager" snobs did 5 years ago.

Here I am, ****** off that I am still at work on Friday, ****** off that it is snowing outside, and you suggest that it is acceptable to make chilli without beans. This might just be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Do all women do this now? My wife says that to me and we end up having cereal or I have to cook.

I dated around a bit before I met my fiance, and sadly I believe that is the trend. Only two of the girls in all my relationships could cook worth a damn (fiance can't cook either).

What is this world coming too. First, people try to put beans in Chili and now women quit cooking.

I have 3 options:

1. Make my own food
2. Carryout
3. Not eat.

Girlfriend can't cook a lick...her chemistry background takes over and she turns everything into an experiment.

Next time the NHL runs out of pucks they can just ask her to bake cookies.

And chili without beans is boiled hamburger. Gross.

^^ Just a disclaimer: I'm not saying I expect women to stay in the kitchen. I like making supper and especially love running my grill. It'd just be nice to not have to do it 90% of the time or worry about my significant other burning ****.^^ Rant over.

Beans are mandatory.

I have to say that cooking has become the domain of the domesticated man. I have slowly taught my wife over the years to cook. Her mom always did takeout or very simple (mac n cheese, hamburger helper, etc). Just the other day she called me to see how to turn on the grill. I slowly walked her through it and she adequately grilled hot dogs to my 3 year old daughters standards! SO PROUD!

And even she knows that chili doesn't have beans.

She's just a girlfriend so you still have time to find a better version.

you are right, except about the beans thing. Beans belong on top of my bbq sandwich. Not in my chili.

After reading this thread all day long, I can't wait to go home and make some delicious chili...with ample amounts of beans.
