Maybe "pressure" is the important word, maybe trying to make a statement. It might have been David Bowie.
Maybe its not OK to make jokes when 3 people have died and 177 have been severely wounded. Again, just an opinion.

Foxnews is now reporting some elements of an Al Qaeda style "pressure cooker" bomb may have been found. This is obviously early and such reports are highly inconclusive at this point, but it is interesting. We'll all just have to be patient before drawing conclusions but if I was forced to make a guess, this just feels like an AQ style operation....probably by a somewhat disconnected splinter cell...but certainly inspired by and perhaps even in communication with Al Qaeda or its affiliates.
Really, the only thing "toolish" that's occurred thus far was your comment towards me. I simply passed along what was being reported on Fox and other outlets. I claim no expertise in bomb making business but I do have access to regular security briefings at certain levels and, far more importantly, I regularly work with and have friendships with a number of TSSE's at the airport who've previously encountered similar devices in Afghanistan. I was quite clear in pointing out that none of this is anything close to conclusive...and yet somehow you saw this is "over the top" and somehow political. On the contrary, I shared what little information I knew to be true and gave an opinion. Perhaps the only real problem here is your own assumptions.
For the record I've made nothing like a claim of knowing who is behind this attack, simply pointing out that SOME of its aspects reflect commonalities with AQ methods and equpment...I even gave my own "guess" as to who I think may be behind the attack. But I'm completely open to a thousand possibilities as we all should be, and the evidence will lead where it will, and we may yet end up at a singular nutjob. Almost literally, anything is possible at this point. Again, I think the most likely explanation is someone "inspired" by Al Qaeda but with minimal direct connection to the organization...a very disconnected cell. But given the current dearth of facts, that's little more than a guess and I admit it as such.
So, cdnlgld, instead of sowing animosity amongst those of us discussing this issue, try some amity and consideration instead. If others want to speculate based on their own past experience and background, and the bit of evidence that's come to light, than that's their business and you should feel free to ignore it...or partake if it interests you.
It is what people do when they can't do anything to help. We certainly aren't helping anything by making guesses who is responsible. What we do here, hardly helps anyone except socially. I just want to say, that you making guesses doesn't bother me. I just hope they find the real culprit soon. This person obviously didn't want to get caught or they would have him or them by now. Therefore, we hope they find out soon, because this person or group will obviously strike again if they get away with this one.Maybe its not OK to make jokes when 3 people have died and 177 have been severely wounded. Again, just an opinion.
The only jokes I'm making are directed at you and the idea that we need to try to guess, based on extremely minimal information, who is responsible for this.Maybe its not OK to make jokes when 3 people have died and 177 have been severely wounded. Again, just an opinion.
I know this is from The Onion, but it is pretty much how I feel. Maybe I'm just that far out of whack.
I don't think "but the news channels do it" or "but people on facebook do it" is necessarily a strong point to make. Regardless of the news channels or facebook I don't think it serves any purpose other than it lets us all point our fingers in the same direction.
The only jokes I'm making are directed at you and the idea that we need to try to guess, based on extremely minimal information, who is responsible for this.
Got it, I'm with you then.Yeah, if you really read my post, you'd realize your point was kind of the point I was making. I was not justifying speculation, I was saying I didn't like it. Probably not the most effective way to start my post, but it's kind of how people feel. And as I said at the bottom, it's gotten out of hand.
Ok, I'm making jokes at your actions of guessing who is responsible for this with extremely limited information. As always then, your joke is aimed at a false premise. Nowhere have I indicated anyone "needed" to guess anything. I passed along and concurred with educated guesses being made by analysts looking at the small bits of information we have thus far...analysts who, like myself, are quite clear that much more is yet to be learned and we may end up at far different conclusions. So perhaps you'd have been wiser and a more decent human being to either keep quiet, or actually "direct" your joke at something that WAS actually said. Your perpetual straw man building has become sadly predictable....and grossly out of place in a thread that doesn't need that kind of childishness. If this is headed for the cave, that is the reason why.
Someone's determined to cave this thread. Let's not let that happen.
They are offering big award for information leading to arrest and conviction. I forget how much it is.
Hasn't something like that happened before?I wonder if the letter with Ricin in it addressed to the senator is at all related too.

I don't think this was the work of a group like Al Qaeda. Whenever a foreign terrorist group does something like this, they're very quick, within a day, to claim responsibility. I have not heard anything like this yet. I think it's a lone person/small group of people who did this and not tied to the middle east in that way.
