Booker's post game tweet

Couple thoughts:
1) I'm 'glad' that we found a way to have a Booker thread after the game. We can't go on without one of those.

2) I have a solution to the Gibson problem. If he has to be in there, play him at the same time as Bubu. Bubu loves to steal the ball from bigs. Just have him shadow Percy and liberate the ball any time Percy moves to shoot. He's got to be 100% alert, since Percy can put it up quickly sometimes, but this might save us from some bad shots and give us that extra measure of unpredictability that's tough to prepare for.

It continues to boggle my mind how much time is spent discussing Booker's playing time on talk radio, this board, etc.

He obviously isn't doing something right be it practice, his attitude is poor (which is pretty evident by this tweet, especially from a fifth-year senior) or whatever. Fred isn't just going to keep sitting the guy if him being out there gives the team a better chance to win. That would just be stupid.

Just curious if you have heard anything (off or on the record) from other players regarding the Booker situation. I would think that the team understands that they are suffering from lack of big body in the middle. If the other players understand why Booker doesn't get playing time, that's good. However, if the players think that Booker could contribute positively and don't understand why he isn't getting playing time, that could be a point for some animosity between coach and players, and that would not be good.

Dude - hard questions are about a legal situations, a student-athlete's academic standing, are you talking with another school/looking for another job? Stuff like that.

This question has been asked, a couple of times to my knowledge. At some point you just have to leave it be - the guy isn't playing for a reason. Fred doesn't have to go public with every tidbit within his program. That's his prerogative.

I wouldn't question it for a second had he not played a minute in the OU game...it would be pretty obvious. However, he did play in the OU game, and he played pretty decent.

Its kind of like your g/f dumping you, and then calling you up on a Saturday night wanting to hang out, then leaving Sunday morning and never talking to you again. If she just stayed away you would get the point, but she came back and ****ed with your emotions

Chris - I think people are begging for Booker because Percy has been so bad. Has anyone looked back to see what the game score was while Percy was on the floor? It was during their 16-0 run I know.

Again, I will not argue with the fact that he was awful last night. Will not argue with that at all! I too would prefer Booker over Gibson right now but I'm not the coach. My point is there has to be a reason. Coaches don't like losing. Same with Rhoads and the QB's in football. He's going to put the one out there who gives the team the best chance to win. He sees them every day in practice. We do not have that luxury. And who knows? Maybe after watching last night's tape, things will change?

Outside of being a giant black hole, I don't have many issues with Gibson offensively. But he got absolutely abused by a guy that averages 4 points per game this season. His defense is a huge problem.

But he certainly seems to have regressed this year. He took really smart shots last year and his field goal % reflected that at almost 66%. This year, its 49%.

I think if Percy can get some better awareness down low and find the shooters when the defense collapses he could be deadly on offense. Lately teams have figured out that's his weakness and they don't have much to fear by just collapsing the defense around him.

IMO he's made a little progress on the defensive end but overall still disappointing.

I just hope that Booker doesn't have negative energy with the guys behind the scenes. I know these guys are probably close and text, hang out, live together. I hope they see the bigger picture of the whole scenario and truly know the reason for him not getting minutes.

What's funny too is that if one more break goes Iowa State's way last night - that guy misses the shot at the end of regulation - whatever - and NOBODY is discussing Anthony Booker today (although I somewhat take that back because this thread was started based off of a tweet - a tweet that he still might have put out).

Glad I read through this thread and didn't have a jerk reaction post. You basically posted what I wanted to say. When you are willing to post stuff like that on twitter, there are deeper roots to the issue. Be mad at the coach all you want, but that tweet was a slam on his fellow players as much as a statement of him not playing. Don't throw your team under the bus, unless you are done with them.

And because our guys were so noticeably tired. I can understand not putting in a guy who has never played to give someone a break. But Booker has at least proved he won't kill us if he plays a few minutes. We just disagree; A lot of us think it is a good question, a lot of people don't. Let's drop it.

What career? Hate to agree but he has been given no chance. Play hard, never see the floor again?

I don't think Hoiberg knows what to do with bigs. It gets more and more obvious every game.

And you know how Booker practices, interacts with the team, all of the other stuff that fans don't get to see how?

Its pretty obvious there is more to this story then Fred just not knowing what to do with Booker. Booker is doing something behind the scenes that is affecting his PT.

Percy shot 66 percent from the field last year. How much of that had to do with Royce and the fact that he was getting wide-open layups though?

I don't think Royce was the reason. I remember him hitting plenty of hook shots over his right shoulder.

I think Gibson's main problem is that he is fatter this year than last year without gaining any strength (harsh sounding but it's the truth). He gets knocked off balance super easy because of this and doesn't have the strength to finish.

I look at Gibson's frame and muscle mass and think with his build he should be playing at 230, not 260.

Probably has something to do with both. There's no way you can say that Royce being there didn't make life easier on everybody last season, especially a guy like Gibson who the other team just basically ignored.

Are you talking about the big who had 20 points and 16 rebounds last night, or the big that is having a breakout freshman year?

are you also concerned that Hoiberg can't recruit guards? Quit trolling

Ive heard a few people with the opinion that Niang could be a potential one and done if he was playing next to Royce this season.

No, I don't. But if Hoiberg didn't want him on the team at this point in his career, why does he still suit up? There is no next year for the guy. Cut your losses, and then everyone will know.
