**WBB Cyclones vs. Texas game thread***

Has any player in recent ISU history improved as much in one area over her career as Pop has from the free throw line? 8-9 tonight, and they were good looking FT.

I don't know of ANYONE, guy or gal, that has improved that much.

That was a beautiful overtime period if you saw it. Four Texans fouled out. Our two Texans took it to them.

I got a couple observations from tonight.
1) Nikki Moody is valuable. She went out and Hallie was handling the ball. Pretty scary couple minutes...a lot of turnovers.
2) until the last few minutes...I was very confident on everybody at the free throw line..very nice.
3) Anna and Chelsea are VALUABLE...we lost our game when they were sitting on the bench.

Finally, hopefully Hallie has a better scoring game next time. Most her pts were on the FT line. We need her pts.

Good win though. 1-0 baby.

Fatigue set in.

3 players who played >40 minutes: 15-23 FT
4 players who played <30 minutes: 12-15 FT

Moody, Christofferson and Williamson in OT: 7-12
Poppens: 3-4

KU beat KSU at KU think that might be KU first win over KSU in a LONG TIME

Tech went to stillwater and gave osu their first loss of the season.

Man, UT's posts play dirty. I haven't seen that kind of thug-ball since Marian Washington's Kansas teams physically beat the snot out of people and hoped that the refs were too stupid to notice (usually they were). Glad to see four 'Horns foul out - they deserved it.

Great win, but man, are we in trouble if the bigs find themselves on the bench early on. Brynn, Hallie, and Nikki can't play 40 minutes every game for the rest of the season and still expect to have something in the tank for March. Someone else is going to have to step up and provide better minutes (Kidd). This is a great start, though. Hope they can take care of Tech after the Raiders went to OSU and handed them their first loss of the season (not all that surprising, considering their mega-weak SOS).

Enemkpali is a thug, and should have been ejected on her last foul with Pop, it was flagrant. How Cokie Reed managed 19 minutes is beyond me, other than the fact the officials allowed her to ride our post players all over the place. Stafford-McGee is big and that's about it, not impressed at all with her.

I was really impressed with Anna and Pop handling the contact tonight, both players really handled it well. You can tell how much stronger Anna is this year from being healthy. 17 points in 23 minutes isn't bad.

Nikki was a beast late in the game - she played like a senior and really willed the team along.

Three WVA starters fouled out. OU was 31/39 at the line, WVA 9/13.

OSU's best game was a win of San Diego State, otherwise they have played no one. This will haunt them in B12. Oh, and they go to Baylor on Sunday.

KSU plays seven players and they have no one on their roster taller than 6-1. Any team with size will kill them in the post.

IMHO, it is absolutely critical that Poppens and Prins stay out of foul trouble.....for the whole game, but in particular, in the first half of games. Also, this 7 person rotation is not going to cut it all season long. Someone else has to either step up or be developed to give more minutes....in the post I would guess Z, and in the guard court I would guess Hagedorn. If players have to keep putting in nearly 40 minutes (or more) per game....that can make them more prone to injury, plus it will lose you some games...especially later in the season. I hope they can figure something out.

I don't disagree, but it's pretty evident coach doesn't have the confidence in the 2 players you mentioned. Problem is,as we know, there's nobody else left!

I don't have a problem with a 7 player rotation, and it has been pretty standard for BF over the years to run a 7, maybe 8.

My main concern for depth is for Moody. It is clear from the Iowa game, and from the couple minutes of this game, when she is out, its big problems for us on offense.

Kidd only had 3 TO in 27 minutes, is playing much better defense, and her consistency on her shot improving, and Fallon played some big minutes, but clear coach was upset about a couple things she did on the defensive end a couple times. Both are physical and athletic, which is good in this league.

Would love to see Z play. But, frankly speaking, she looks like the same player she was when she was a freshman, her conditioning hasn't changed, and her defense is still a major liability. She has great offensive moves, but her defense, just not there.

Shame we played Baier a couple games. She could have redshirted as I doubt she will see the court again this year much at all. But, I bet we see her before Z.

Agree on Enemkpali, she was ejected from last years game in Ames and should of again last night.
