The softball and soccer complexes were desperately needed. What they had in the past probably helped keep recruits away.
Appearance is everything. The old soccer field and softball field were in two terrible locations. To get to softball, you had to walk through a run-down baseball field (that was one of the best fields in the nation before we let it rot) and to get to soccer you have to drive through MWL and Lied and had the view of Lincoln Way and University Boulevard.
Now, the new complex has beautiful trees, brings all outdoor sports that have fans (sorry, Tennis) in one place, and it's hidden from streets (the Softball field has wind stoppers on the outfield fence)
If I'm a recruit going to these facilities, I'm going to be blown away.
As for volleyball, we could use our own building, but we don't need one now. I think 2 or 3 years from now if we continue our success, then we should get one. Look at how long it took basketball to get out of Hilton for practices.
