*****9:00 am update North Carolina and Virginia: B10 targets?

MHver3 ‏@MHver3
Yeah I can confirm what Fravel is reporting. UVA BOT will meet today to possibly accept B10 offer. Might they sit at 15 or will they go 16?

The Dude of WV ‏@theDudeofWV
I think I just may sit back and watch this happen.

And yeah, i take these two with an entire mine worth of salt, but interesting that someone else is getting in on this.

If they were meeting and accepting an offer the major sports networks would be all over it. As we've seen, Big Ten pulls the trigger fast but makes sure the final day or two are know so the networks can hype it up. Fravel, IIRC, is a Clemson blogger so I'll still take the salt.

Don't disagree with that. However, if it somehow becomes true this opens VT up go to the SEC. If I remember correctly Virginia was made to fight hard to get VT into the ACC so they could be in the same conference. If UVA leaves that means VT has a home already.

We need to get in get FSU, Clemson, and one of GT or NCST. That with Louisville should be good for us. Granted I would really like to get VT but I am almost certain they are SEC bound.

Agreed.

The major networks are the last to get in on this, there is always so much rumor they don't want egg on their face until it's already happening. They will report on it, but they won't break the news.

Those 2 WV cats are the nexus of realignment BS........but one never knows I guess.

If four teams are taken by B10 and SEC, I hope the B12 does something. Otherwise the ACC and BE will probably reform into another 16 team conference. And Pac 12 will be working Nevada, BYU, or whatever else they find to make 16. If we have four 16 team conferences and then the B12 as ten, that would not be as tempting for networks to pay the big bucks. They want eyeballs, not limited number of hot shot teams.

Yes, they are the last to report but they always report when it's at the "accepting an invitation" stage. Therefore, it's not at that point despite what two WVU bloggers want.

Lol. Talk about jumping onto a sinking ship.

Big East is now CUSA in football basically. Especially with the MWC schools looking to move back west.

The Sun Belt is stable because it's at the bottom. When it all settles the question is among the ACC, Big East and CUSA, how many football conferences will remain and in what # of members.

They're just going to replace the CUSA.

They pretty much have already.

I'm just wondering when the basketball schools bolt; there's no way that programs like Georgetown and Marquette stick around. If I had to guess, I'd say most of them work out some arrangement with the ACC, but who knows whether that's a stable home either.

Cluster. ****.
