Chris Thomas has decomitted from Xavier

He was year to year, anyway. If he stays on the team, his scholarship reward is fair game. We could use it for someone else.

Everyone is year to year. Bubu was put on for a semester last year because he earned it. He is still on scholarship and still on the team for the 2012-13 season until Hoiberg says he isn't.

I don't think you can take Royce's situation and compare it to Thomas, they are totally different people. IF he is EVEN interested in ISU, the coaching staff will make a decision if he is a good kid or not. I think they did a great job with Royce, Allen and the other kids with regard that we never heard a peep from them (with regards to the law or school issues).

But who is to say he doesn't have a change of heart if he came here? Nobody here knows the kid so judgements on his character & attitude is really just BS. To me, the risk is a no brainer.

Did we hear someone suggest that it was Donovan that kept after Niang after he was committed?

Lets ask his mom

She's got too much class, and won't tell us. Someone else in the know hinted it.

I agree. It's too bad that simply speaking the truth about coaches who violate the unwritten code and tamper with players who have already committed to another program is considered by many as some sort of lack of class. Everyone should know the truth about coaches who do this. This type of activity is just a window into the flexible morals of some of these guys. I'm sure there are many recruits' families who would shy away from coaches who they know are pulling crap like that.

Revise history all you want but he was troubled before he came to ISU.

Not revising anything, a couple legal scrapes and an anxiety disorder don't make you John Dillinger.

A really smart and talented kid who turned into a huge success story for both parties.

Troubled = John Dillinger? Really?

I can guarantee that virtually 100% of Gopher fans who were closer to the situation than most of us would have classified Royce as troubled during his time here. I'm sure most of DeLaSalle fans would too.

I am a huge Royce fan. Partly because of how he turned around his life. Even Royce admits that he made some bad decisions.

He was troubled. It's not that difficult of a concept. No, he wasn't a murderer.

So it was said earlier in this thread that Chris Thomas is attending a Junior College right now. DOes anyone have details on that?

Chipola College Mens Basketball

He's playing with Chipola CC this year. Which we have two assistants on staff who used to coach there. Have to think if Fred wanted him we would at least have a shot.

sam cassell Jr............makes me feel old, i remember when his dad played at FSU and obviously in the NBA.

back on topic, if CFH thinks Thomas is a good kid - obviously he has a lot of talent, so bring him aboard.

As do I. That FSU team was fantastic to watch. Can you name the talented white guard thay had? Nice
NBA career in his own right.

O i know. I wasn't trying to say you or anyone wants him off the team. I was just saying the benefits of him staying on the team compared to not staying on the team. Thinking out loud more or less.
His requested trial probably will not occur until 2013.
