Benike was all big 12 in 03 ish IIRC. I do know that nobody tops ISU in celebration after an extra point or 30 yard FG is made.

This is the same thing that happened with Vanderkamp his freshman year. He was supposedly tied with another punter at the beginning of the year until that punter shanked two punts in a row and Vanderkamp has been punting ever since.

Benike and before that Carl Gomez took over PK duties mid year and was fantastic along with already being an above average punter.

You are right, after watching the scrimmage 2 video, the kickers do sound like they are doing very well, hopefully they can be reliable on gameday.

You guys are remembering the underclassmen vs upperclassmen Yelk. Tony was named best freshman kicker in the nation. Some choose to remember that. Some choose to remember his Sr. year results.

BTW for those that didn't watch/read CPR said both kickers have made over 50 yarders and their accuracy is pretty good. Sounds like it's the good kind of heat.

Agreed ... Gomez hit a 4th quarter, clutch 40+ yarder, in the snow at CU that put us in a bowl game. (1999 -2000 maybe?) He didn't have a big leg but he hit the ones we needed.

Thinking about past kickers makes me nauseated, though Benike wasnt bad. I cant get over how Grant Mahoney turned out, I thought when he was a freshman that we actually had somebody that would turn out to be potentially the best kicker in ISU history, I was sadly mistaken.

It is mind boggling to me that there are not better kickers in this world. What a great way to get a free education, just kick the ball through the goal posts how hard can this be.

Maybe you should try out for kicker then if it's so easy

I didn't think Arceo was bad in the Spring Game. But I missed about 30% of it.

And CPR isn't one to sugarcoat things. If he thought they were both bad, he'd say it.
