For the Lebron haters...

Already addressed it in another post before I read this.

1. LeBron was coming off the biggest statistical choke in NBA Finals history (if you have a problem with that take it up with reality, not me)
2. Durant had more points He shot more and had a worse FG%
3. The Thunder had more wins in a different conference
4. Durant had more rebounds
5. Durant had more blocks
6. After all that I said I thought it was a coin flip 50/50 choice for MVP...and you screamed HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATER
7. LeBron had more assists
8. LeBron had more steals

After the finals showing last year's disappearing act is not the norm, he's clearly the best player on the planet. I'll say for the 109383556th time that I think he's the most talented basketball player ever, maybe the most talented of any athlete in any sport.

1. Last year's playoff has no bearing on this year MVP's voting.
2. Durant averaged 0.9 more points
3. The Thunder won 1 more game
4. Durant averaged 0.1 more rebounds per game
5. Durant averaged 0.4 more blocks

Convienently left out:
1. LeBron averaged 2.7 more assists
2. LeBron 0.6 more steals
3. LeBron is an elite all around defender, Durant is not even close

It really isn't close, there's a big gap between the two as is obvious to anyone who objectively watched the two play.

That's sort of revisionist history. All of the superstars were not on separate teams.

What championship team did Micheal Jordan play on that didn't have at least one other Hall of Fame player on it?

Larry Bird?

How about Magic?

Isaiah Thomas?

that's 14 of the championship teams during the 20 year period you named. That was the golden age of basketball, and plenty of stars played on the same team.

All of those guys had top 50 players on it. LeBron didn't even play with an All-Star. I will take this to my grave- If MJ wouldn't have had Scottie, he would have won maybe 3 rings. You need proof-Look what the Bulls did when MJ left. Still a decent team. Look what Scottie did with the Blazers. Everyone talks about MJ and forgets that he didn't have to do anything but score. Lock Down? Scottie. Perimeter rebounding? Scottie. He did the dirty work and was truly unappreciated. HFCS loves to talk about LeBron choking last year and how Jordan was 6-6. Good for him. He also didn't make the Finials until his sixth year with, at best, the same quality roster as LeBron had in Cleveland. Clevelenad never got a lottery pick while LeBron was there.

Two Points.

1. Lebron and the Heat were much more watchable this year because they weren't showboating after every play. Lebron admitted that he had grown up over the last two years. If he continues to act this way, the haters - including me - will learn to respect him.

2. The Heat did not suddenly become unbeatable in the East by winning this championship. They were on the ropes in the first two rounds but eeked out wins.

Durant may have played HIMself into Alex English/Bob McAdoo territory. A really dynamic scorer/shooter who can't push a team in the ultimate big-boy setting.

We need to spread out the hatin'.

Nothing is good enough for you all short of me saying I like him or that I don't think they're all arrogant D-bags. I will never like Wade, Riley or LeBron. If that's irrational than it's irrational that we all dislike Nebraska or Iowa.

...then you watch Durant play defense and all MVP credibility is lost.

Titan...did you miss the part where I was arguing that it could have been a COIN FLIP. I wasn't even arguing he was clearly better, just that it wasn't the easy choice for MVP some made it out to be.

My God the LeBron jock sniffing on here is STAGGERING.

And now that he washed away the doubts he created by the biggest choke in Finals history I completely agree with you.

See what I did there?

As someone else mentioned LeBron's defending is also superior to Durant's. Durant was the clear no. 2, but it wasn't 50/50.

I'm still surprised their coach has transitioned this easily from being an actor. Granted they had a good team but still...

What does "hater" mean if not criticizing people for not liking LeBron or Miami. I'd be rich if I had a nickel for every non-positive Heat comment met with hater.

If you think the biggest statistical choke in NBA Finals history should not be brought up when comparing who is the greatest player of all time, frankly you're an idiot.

You keep saying this. He still made the Finals right? For the second time. Jordan couldn't even get there and based on LeBrons performance alone, he should have been there two more times making that six total. LeBron has been done in because in his first 5 years, he was so good that he doomed Cleveland's future. He was good enough to make that team competitive, unlike Durant, who lost for 5 years and acquired Westbrook and Harden. Only then did they start winning.

If the scoring champ had more wins, points, rebounds and blocks than the MVP...and you don't think the scoring champ has ANY chance at being MVP...you're a pathetic jock sniffer. That goes double for CyJack.

I wasn't even ever saying LeBron shouldn't have been MVP, just that it was a close choice.

Sure it was if you value defense or passing at all.

Did I say that? I said it wasn't 50/50. Keep putting words into mine and others mouths, it's a great way to present your case. :twitcy:

Watch some regular season ball. In the playoffs LeBron is so many more times the defender Durant is. I hope NOBODY thinks I'm arguing against that. In key playoff games I think LeBron is the #1 on ball defender in the league and possibly ever.

If that were the case for 82 games though...Durant would not have blocked more shots and got more rebounds than LeBron as happened IN REALITY. LeBron's sniffers all want him to get credit for the defense he plays in the playoffs but they don't want the biggest Finals choke ever to matter in MVP discussions. Both matter, it all matters.

Again, he's the MVP, he's the champ, he's the greatest thing going in the world right now. But I'm not a "hater" for thinking a guy who scored more points, had more rebounds, blocks and wins had an argument for MVP at the time of voting. That's called, not-being-a-LeBron-fanboy.

What? You think last years should matter in this years MVP voting? Is this for serious?

Scottie was a complete unknown when he came in to the league and joined the Bulls. Lebron, Wade, and Bosh were all All-Stars when they combined up, they actively searched out each other. Jordan played with what he got, and what he got eventually turned in to Scottie Pippen (a top 50 player). I don't ever recall Jordan actively trying to find other great players to team with, he was looking for other great players to beat.

BUT HE AVERAGED 0.1 MORE REBOUNDS AND HIS TEAM WON ONE MORE GAME!!

LOL

Well something doesn't add up then. In the regular season the most awesome defender ever had less rebounds and blocks than a horrible defender (just going by what's being said here, it doesn't make sense but I'll play along).

We can't bring up playoff history when discussing MVP according to your own rules, so LeBron's world class lock down playoff defense isn't a factor.

Which is it then when voting for MVP this year? LeBron's playoff defense matters and his finals choke 10 months ago matters. Or Durant's defense is similar to LeBron's defense but voters ignore the biggest choke ever 10 months ago.

LeBron would still be in Cleveland had they found him a Pippen.
