No Virginia Next Year

we should set up a series with marquette or wisconsin. Doubt either of them would do it but you never know.

Wouldn't mind picking up a game against

Nebraska (won't happen)
Illinois
Missouri (won't happen)
Kentucky (we wouldn't do it, though I want revenge on those guys)

Good ideas — even if we could get one home-and-home on a regional basis every couple of years that might provide SOS/RPI advantages for both parties.

I've long been advocate of a frequent series w/ Minnesota. Home-and-home every four years, for example.

Illinois might not happen, but it's closer to happening now than any time in recent memory.

The problem is that big boys like Kentucky, Duke, UNC would want a neutral then a return game at their place. I don't think JP would like that very much. The only time I remember it happening is when we played Duke in Chicago...though we didn't get a game at Duke which was nice.

Illinois is possible as I don't think they'd be in much of a position to force ISU to only play them on a neutral site. Minnesota would be a cool series as well, I hope that returns. I remember beating them in the NCAA's with Stinson and with Taylor in the regular season.

A couple mid-majors would be Creighton in a home and away setup. Butler would be intriguing or a Wisconsin. I'd think it wouldn't hurt if our guys went up against a good slow-it-up offensive style in the non-conference. That why I think Wisconsin or even a mid-major like Butler would be a good series.

**** move by the Cavs. Hope Fred uses this in recruiting Thomas. Jimlad

Eff Mizzou. Never play them again. Let them suffer in the SEC.
Would like to see a series with Minnesota. Would be a nice little rivalry I think.

I agree, except I want to see it in football. If we ever went back to an 8 game conference schedule, I'd love to see a nice long contract with Minnesota in football. Yes, I know, BCS conference foes are not our friend when it comes to bowl games, but it seems like selling tickets is more important, and a game against a regional "rival" could grow into something pretty big.

Haven't seen this mentioned yet, but with us losing this home game, it could prove tough finding a BCS level school to come to Hilton next season. We don't have much leverage in this situation as we're the ones actively pursuing a BCS school to come to our house as the first part of a home and home, when most schools have already finalized or are close to finalizing their schedules.

I don't any specifics to add to this conversation but I have heard that Iowa State will play a few different BCS programs next season during the non-conference. Not sure who, when or where but it's just what I'm hearing...

Good. Time to get in the rankings early and stay there. No more freaking "on the bubble" talk.

I have always thought Minnesota should be on our schedule every year. would be a great border war. I would like to see a decent big east school, like Marquette or Notre Dame. Illinois also makes good sense to me. Some big name schools that I think we could handle most years to come. I think we should stay away from high mid majors like Creighton, Butler, Etc. It is not really a win win situation for us yet. In a few years when we are dominating the Big 12, then I think you put them on your schedule ala Michigan St.

A little update...Been working the phones.

Virginia did indeed back out. Iowa State is currently looking for another BCS program to replace them with.

As of now, Iowa and the Vegas tournament are the only BCS games on the schedule. Stay tuned.

1. its always tough to find a BCS team to come to hilton

2. we never have much leverage

3. many schools are in the same boat, plenty of time to finalize the schedule. we got the Mich series last year in the same circumstances (Mich needed a home game).
