what do you like to hunt. what do like to fish.

i grew up loving hunting and fishing.
when i was growing up, i shot pigeons, squirrels and rabbits-plus starlings and and those dam worthless sparrows.also i loved coon hunting..
as i got older we used to duck hunt and run throw lines for catfish. the biggest catfish i snagged on a trot line was a big flathead and it weighed 59 lbs.
i used to love pheasant and grouse hunting...i always had trained hunting dogs-pointers,brittanies labs, german shorthairs, vizlas. i trained and loved those dogs. i had one germain shorthair dig down ino a gopher hole in south texas and we got six quail out of that hole. i think i have shot 25000 quail behind those good dogs. we fish in the laguna madre at south padre isle for redfish, flounders, and trout. we have our own flat bottom with 125 hp motor on it...
back in the 80's i bulit my ow 50 calibre musket from a kit... i like to hunt with it when we get permission to hunt on the king ranch for big african animals that the king ranch has.
when i was healthy i used to do the big 5 in the texas panhandle-quail,pheasants,ducks, geese and sand hill crane. one time when we were in the texas panhandle i shot into a flying "V" OF SANDHILL CRANES...i killed one and wounded two. i had a hell of a time downing the two wounded cranes. i wasted more dam shells on those two cranes..actually sandhiil crane is very tasty. i got 17 out of 22 that day. we ate some fresh for dinner and brought the rest back to the rio grande valley..

i still like to handicap dove hunt.
this fall my oldest boy and i are planning a trip to sitka, alaska. i have a very good friend there that has invited me to hunt.
our goal is to catch some king salmon.
2. bag some brown or brown bears;
3. get some moose:
4. kill some black tail sitka deer.

we will get the meat processed there. we will get the hides tanned there. we will freeze the meat.
i will keep any salmon we catch.if we get a bear, moose or deer,we will probably keep the deer and make summer sausage out of it..
i think i will donate rest of the meat to the biology dept at UT PAN AMERICAN for a game dinner...
no tales about craig robinson or george soros.
lets have a decent blog and no ******* character attack.

Fishing:
Iowa farm ponds for largemouth and bluegill
Minnesota - Northern pike, walleye, and random panfish.

Hunting:
Deer
Turkey
Pheasant
Wild hogs
Random varmint

I like hitting up good stocked ponds for bass and bluegill. Actually enjoy catching catfish in the backwaters of rivers too.

As for hunting, I just started this last year, but had a great time shooting my first deer. Also enjoy chasing varmits around the yard, if you call that hunting.

I love upland hunting. I had to put my lab down last Christmas so I was forced to buy a new pup. Unfortunately then we had to move over here and taking guns was much more difficult than what I wanted to tackle. So, I will miss two hunting seasons before I get back to Iowa. Crazy thing is I see pheasants all the time here (Germany).

We just had our wild game feed and fish fry this last weekend. I haven't eaten anything tastier than smoked wild boar, even better than venison.

Sounds like you got lucky on that. I've heard some horror stories on wild boar. There's quite a few wild hogs in my neck of the woods, but nobody every tries to eat them. Just shoot them or trap them.

Fishing for whatever will bite.
Love Ontario walleye's and smallies.
Iowa LMB and panfish and trout in NE Iowa.

WHen it comes to hunting nothing beats geese! Love when a flock of honkers locks up on the spread glides in with the feet down. That's when you know you've won!

Also ducks and pheasants.

My girls really like to hunt deer, turkey and squirrels. I haven't gotten a license for deer or turkey the past few years, as I am their guide. I'll fish for anything, especially compliments.

Drove thru Minn. on the way to Red Lake, Ontario for walleyes last May. Anybody have any success for wallies in Minn. or Dakotas? Crappies in Iowa and Missouri are fun fishin' and good eatin'. Corn fed Southwest Iowa deer (young does) are excellent eating also.

Hunting:
Deer
Turkey
Pheasant
Pigeons (in my barn)

Fishing:
Northern pike, walleye, and what ever else i can snag on a hook

I loved pheasant hunting growing up, even though I'm a terrible shot and have brought down maybe 1 bird ever. I just like being out there. We'd do an annual Thanksgiving Day hunt.

Wouldn't mind getting into deer hunting some day, but its a lot of money to invest right now in getting a decent gun and all of that. As long as my father-in-law takes down enough deer to keep our freezer stocked with venison, I'm happy.

Fishing is a little passive for me. I don't have the patience for it. Its fun when the fish are biting, but I can't sit through lean days.

Remington 870 - dirt cheap & reliable. (Obviously some "blow money" still needed)

Yeah. We'll see if I ever decide its something I want to do bad enough to develop the competency. I really like the idea of killing and eating my own deer, and I know how to cook the stuff. At the last Farmageddon in KC, I grilled marinated venison backstrap and was sharing it with everyone around us. It was comical to hear people say "this beef is SO good and its really lean. How did you do this?"
