Have they done that this year? MSU beat the loser of the SEC championship. UW gave Oregon everything they want with so much less speed. Their junk teams lost but we got beat by Rutgers so I don't see the difference there.

The Big 10 has two bowl wins, and could easily finish that way.

One was against an 8 loss team that had to file a ridiculous petition to even be allowed in. I know you're a Michigan fan, but come on.

ISU v. Rutgers has been the Big 12's worst performance thus far, unfortunately.

I hate the Big 10 because they are way overrated and I love when they are exposed for the frauds they are.

Wouldnt be an 'obsession over iowa' (but there you go with another 'iowa state fans are obsessed with iowa' BS), but their fans spouting the same "big10 is so awesome" crap certainly has to contribute to them being more hated around here.

I hate the media's obsession with the SEC too, but at least the SEC mostly backs up their arrogance.

Just curious where all of this "arrogance" is coming from? Who's saying the Big Ten is any good this year?

Spoken like a true Michigan fan.

Big 12 5-1 so far.
Big 10 2-6 so far. Edit 3-5? now that I think of it.

No difference? Really?????

1. I hate the Big 10 because I get so sick and tired of listening to their fans talk about how great their conference is and then they will make endless excuses for why they only have 2 bowl wins.

2. Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio State, and Michigan have some of the most arrogant fans in the country.

3. Also I could just say naming their divisions Legends and Leaders explains it all.

MSU winning took Georgia pulling one of the most idiotic coaching moves i think we've seen all year.
The only other 2 big 10 wins were because they were matched up with the powerhouses of WMU and UCLA.

Wisconsin is the one team that shows offense in the big 10, they dont really represent them well.

And you say 'their junk teams', but its not really just their junk teams losing. Aside from MSU winning their wins have been from their 'junk teams' of Illinois and Purdue, thanks to some very favorable matchups.

I don't really hate the B1G all that much, but watching them lose is amusing. I generally feel the same about Iowa, although my hatred is growing now that I'm living in central Iowa rather than western Iowa. The fact that Nebraska is now in the B1G makes me enjoy seeing the conference suck even more.

The only conference I actually hate is the SEC, and the only team I truly, passionately, obsessively hate is Nebraska.

I think most of the Big 10 hate has nothing to do with Iowa. I hate the SEC, but couldn't care about a single school in the league.

Look around the country. Most people outside of Big 10 country hate the Big 10. The reason is that the Big 10 has a collective arrogance about its on-field performance that is completely contradicted by what actually happens on the field.

The Big 10 is treated is an elite league when in reality it often comes in anywhere between 4-6 amongst the BCS leagues. However, due to having several giant universities in high population areas, it gets a ton of exposure and media love.

It really has very little to do with Iowa.

I have enjoyed seeing the B10 flaming out in the bowls this year mainly because two of their teams got into BCS bowls - in a year when their conference was average at best. That said, I didn't mind too much that MSU beat Georgia (I think Kirk Cousins is an outstanding representative for college sports & enjoyed him ending his college career with a win).

Man Iowa sure has a lot of rivals

ISU
Wisconsin
Purdue
Minnesota
Nebraska

Who else am I missing?
One of the things I've never understood, Iowa-Wisconsin is a rivalry (apparently), but Iowa-Illinois isn't?

The entire media, when they made a huge push to justify Michigan getting a second bcs bid for the conference?

My issue is with the general smugness I hear, living in Big 10 Country, about how they think they play a better brand of football, just because they carry so many more fans. Combine that with how I get to hear of every year of how the B1G is so much stronger than the Big XII because of the list of New Years Day Bowls they appear in and I can't help but root for them to lose. At least that way I can say, "How many of those NYD games did you win?"

I have so many friends out here that went to B1G schools, now combine that with Nebby joining and it just gets painful to listen to at times.

Irony. I have a co-worker up here who's a big Michigan fan (and I doubt he went there, but he went the Air Force route so I won't give him too much crap for that). He made it his stated goal to get me to stop cheering for ISU and start cheering for any Big 10 team (I already cheered for Wisconsin on the side, but that's besides the point). At least he gave up on his ambitious goals when I told him he had no chance in hell of ever doing so due to me spending 6 of the best years of my life and far too much $$$ in Ames to ever do so.

Didn't read most of the thread..... However, people hate the big ten because they are over hyped and over compensated for everything they do. How the **** is Michigan in a bcs game? Big 10 teams have continuously not delivered on the field and yet are given favoritism for bowl games/rankings/media attention. If big 10 teams start earning the attention and opportunities they are given then I will have less of a problem with them. I don't see that happening soon though.

Way up there
It couldnt have anything to do with the air of superiority and arrogance that comes from the big 10 and their media friends who love to overrate the conference. Nothing better than bowl season when the big 10 comes out and reminds us all that the big 10 is a fraud.

winner...and the fact that the bowl affiliations favor the big 10 by giving them Jan 1 games

Outside of KSU and OSU, the Big 12 played junk teams. Our second best team against the Big 10s 5th or sixth best team? I would hope we would win. I'm not saying the Big Ten is good but the SEC and Big 12 aren't as good as everyone thinks. The top of the Big Ten is a little better than everyone thinks.

its frustrating when the media puts teams ahead of or in the same class as the big 12 or sec. losing just proves what we all say... big 10 is overrated. every yr they prove us right.

Look, I get it. Iowa is in the Big Ten, and ISU fans hate Iowa. No brainer.

What I don't get is the over-obsession by quite a few people on here with the BIG. I guess I just don't get the mindset of treating an entire conference as an opposing (or favorite) team.

Personally, I was happy with UW's loss (especially the way it happened), because Iowa and UW are rivals. I don't want them to win a Rose Bowl. Ever. I was hoping Sparty would lose, because, well, I hate Dantonio. A lot.

Especially if my favorite team doesn't contribute to the strength of the conference.

Just my opinion.
Big Ten sucks in bowl games, yet it gets much love as one of the best conferences. I hate overratedness. What's not to get?

Yeah Wisconsin looked great on that last play...... Had good form on that spike.
