Seriously, if you are in the area of Times Square, for NYE, try to get on the corner of 47th Street.
Also, because the area is close to the Theater District, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. Some are tourist traps, but others are gems that NY'ers go for. One that is sort of a little of both is Heartland Brewery.
Must be an eastern thing cause we have a manager at work who spent the first 50+ years of his life in Pennsylvania and he says youse.
If you're in NYC for more than a day or 2, go downtown,and visit Chinatown, Little Italy, Greenwich Village, SOHO, Newly built Freedom Tower, take ferry to Statue of Liberty. Midtown is crazy busy, and very expensive. Use TripAdvisor.com for suggestions for good places to eat or stay. Mario Battali (Rutgers alum) has a few restaurants in Greenwich Village, all great , fairly reasonable. Take subways or buses, subways best. If you have any questions, post here, we will check back.

As a former Minnesotan resident for 4 years, I can tell you that Minnesota Sports fans support all teams that begin with "Minnesota" only when they are winning. And since winning is rare these days for the Gopher football team, they could care less about them. Kinda sad. Good to be back in a state that cares a lot about College Football.
Do you know anything about the area of Yonkers? We just booked a room at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Yonkers. Sounds like they have a complimentary shuttle to the train station which would intersect with the 4 subway line, so reasonable transportation. The hotel got good user reviews on hotels.com.
I would guess that most Cyclone fans you run into will be down with this.
