Over the years, I've seen hundreds of Cyclone fans go out of their way to bash UNI on these boards (including that dope who wrote that embarrassing letter to the editor this fall in the DM Register). Basically, ISU fans seem to treat UNI like Iowa fans treat ISU (i.e. annoying/inferior stepbrother status).
After consistently beating ISU in basketball (5 out of the last 6), going to the NCAA tournament regularly (including a Sweet 16 appearance), and beating ISU in football on multiple occasions in the last decade, when will ISU fans start respecting UNI?
I'm not an ISU fan who feels I must tear down UNI in order to cheer on the Cyclones, so I have difficulty understanding that mindset. I just can't wrap my head around it.
Lastly, please don't bring up "ugly" style of play. Winning is winning and playing the "style" card is sad and pathetic. I would rather win with five “unathletic†hardworking kids from Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota than lose with five superior athletes who can neither grasp the concept of team basketball or hard work.

Every time UNI hits a 3-pointer, Panthers radio caller Gary Rima, yells "KABOOM!"I hope a dictionary is on your list you gave to Santa.

The bottom line is this: a tournament-caliber Big 12 team should have its way with a Missouri Valley team. That certainly doesn't mean beating the MVC team every year, or beating that team badly every time out. But even mediocre UNI squads have beaten the Cyclones routinely in recent years.
It isn't a matter of lack of respect for UNI, I think most of us have that. It's a frustration with knowing that, in all honesty, we need to be head and shoulders above UNI to compete in the Big 12 and have the type of season we'd like to have. And in recent years we just haven't been able to do that.

I'd say 3. Morgan, McDermott, and Hoiberg have all been owned by UNI with a solid 3-6 record over the last 9 years.I won't be satisified until we have beaten UNI 15 straight to right the record of wrongs we have witnessed under the previous two fools we have had presiding over our program.
I am starting to be annoyed by UNI, and if you think that constitutes respect, then have at it.
I will never respect UNI.
I'm with this guy. UNI is a D2 commuter school. They are about as relevent in my mind as Kirkwood.
I'd say 3. Morgan, McDermott, and Hoiberg have all been owned by UNI with a solid 2-7 record over the last 9 years.

Stop throwing out stupid Iowa references. There is no tangible or quantitative reason Iowa should be heads and shoulders above us. We should be competitive with them year in and year out.
We have more money, better facilities, more alumni and play in a larger conference than UNi so we SHOULD be ticked off and embarrassed losing to them 7 out of the last 9 years.
Never. UNI beats ISU because ISU is inept. If ISU were any good, it would lose to UNI once in a generation.
