I'd like to put the carrot out there that if mizzou comitts to the xii that the hoops tourny will ALWAYS be in KC.
Agree, but if we had to take a MWC team the Aztecs are the better option than Boise who may simply be another Marshall in 10 years.
If I'm Mizzou, I can't imagine why I would want to commit to a conference where 1/4 of the members are unknown and haven't signed up? Would I trust the schools with the most influence in the Big 12 (TX/TTU/OU/OSU) to act in MY interests when voting on new membership?
I can see it now: Welcome the newest members of the Big(ger) 12 Conference: Rice, North Texas, and Oral Roberts University.
Brilliant post. I'm sure that every other Mountain West school, Big East school, and Conference USA school will turn down the Big 12 so that the Big 12 has to dip into the Sun Belt and the FCS division to get teams. That is if Oral Roberts even has a team in FCS.
Wow. Overreact much? If you think Mizzou has no idea who some of the new members will be, then you are naive. Just because you don't know who they might be doesn't mean the Big 12 doesn't. And it is not those schools.

C'mon guys...it's sarcasm! My point is that what TX/OU/TTU/OKSt. think would be a great addition to the Big 12 might not necessarily be so for the northern schools, either from a geographic or academic standpoint.
It took the Big 12 FIFTEEN YEARS to come to a consensus on revenue sharing...do you trust TX/OU to think of the big picture when adding teams, or to act in their own self-interest?

Missouri fans, and Missouri suck. They will get railed even harder than aTm in the SEC.
I'm confident that the Big 12 will get the schools who they feel will add the most value, just like any other conference. How much difference in opinion can there be between northern and southern schools. Geography went out the window a long time ago, so you just add teams who you think will be best for the conference. I'm pretty sure that there is going to be consensus among teams that adding Rice isn't in the best interest of the league.
Think about the type of fans going to trouble of writing e-mails to the curators. You have to ask...
1. Do they think rationally?
2. Do they represent the whole of the Tiger fanbase?
3. Are they considering what is in the best interest of the university and the athletes, or are they simplying thinking about the football team?

It's a death sentence for Mizzou Football, they would be crazy to go to the SEC. I would think they would be more interested in staying in the Big 12 for another 5 or so years and hope the Big offers them in future.
No rational administrator makes such a massive long-term move to avoid a short-term uproar. Mizzou fans would get over it pretty damn fast.
After a year of embarrassment from their B10 ogling, the fans want to stick it to both the B10 and the B12. Emotion is ruling the roost for them. I can't imagine any coach at Mizzou wants to be the northernmost school in the SEC.

WOW! A whole 200 people. That's like, almost .08% of living mizzu alumni (assuming all the emails came from alumni). What an overwhelming majority of support.
You realize the only folks that will take the time to send an email are the idiots that want to go to the SEC. These are the same idiots in our fanbase that would email JP about discipline on the FB team.
