Let's all watch this erection together!

I think the side view from the stadium scoreboard webcam doesn't do it justice to just how big it is.

JP has done an outstanding job. Props to him for having the vision for this project and more importantly the stones to pull the trigger and get this thing done.

Where would JTS and ISU be if BVD was still around? (I just threw up while typing that)

I love the music that they used for the video of the timelapse of that erection on cyclones.com It really rounded out the whole viewing experience.

Can't wait for the real thing!

That's some good work heshwar! But you do it that well it takes away the Wow factor on that first night.

That being said, I was fortunate enough to be IN the stadium last night for the "erection" and being there live is just so different than pictures and video can do. It just seemed to fit the stadium instantly. I am very excited for that first game with UNI and seeing it in all it's glory. Can't wait for the first family video night up in the Jack!

I bet it was like an 8 year old Chinese kid working on it, who is getting paid 12 cents an hour and hasnt had a break in like 14 hours.

That is a good question. I would assume that electrical work will need to be completed and then just waiting on the boat to arrive from China with the LED panels.

Just to clarify the LED panels are made in Brookings SD. I know because I used to work there. They do all the soldering and everything there.

A couple pics.

Has anybody posted about the fact that you can watch the game on the videoboard from the student tailgate area?

Last year (or the year before), they put up a wall-of-fame so that you couldn't see the videoboard in the south endzone from outside the gate. I wonder if they will put up some sort of higher wall to block the view from the south parking lot. I'm amazed at how much area from which you can be outside the stadium and have a great view of the screen.

Seriously, there are bound to be some accidents on University Drive because people can look right at the screen while they are driving.

Really? We're going to start complaining about tailgating 2 months before the season starts? The only way you're going to see anything is if you are in the south lot. Just like you only see anything if you are at the right spots in the north lots. No one is going to go "oh, hey. I can see the entire scoreboard over here. Why should I buy a ticket?"

Exactly. Anyone that doesnt buy a ticket because they can see it on the videoboard was very unlikely to get a ticket in the first place.

Who is complaining? I just think it is going to change the in-game experience for those in the tailgate areas who don't come in for the game (or who are driving down the street). I could see huge crowds watching the games from the tailgate areas south of the stadium. It is hardly the same as being inside with a ticket, but it will be a much better experience.

I know bowling in the South endzone is a hot topic (HOT TOPIC!) but the "F5-atron" (I'll name it - I'm not bashful) in the North End zone is probably the best motivation for the South project to move forward in 2016 or whatever. The Suites in the South would have the best and easiest views of both the field and views of the "F5-atron" making them more desirable ($).

Kudos to the AD if this is their thinking long term.

If it isn't, kudos to the donors and whatnot for a kickass scoreboard for the rest of us.

And until they bowl in the south endzone, it will be a huge value-added feature for our current endzone seats.

A couple photos from my vantage point last night.
