Capital City League

Royce didn't a lot. But he was playing a team with a bunch of big guys and Royce played that point forward that Hoiberg talked about. I think he can rebound well and will.

Booker seemed to rebound pretty good. Just about the time I was thinking 'here we go again, another tall player who only wants to shoot 3's', he started to go inside.

Booker is interesting b/c if you follow him on twitter, he seems like a really earnest kid. I think he is going to care about winning a lot.

Yea my roomate had a couple classes with Booker last semester. He said he was very well spoken and during group work he would be the one getting it started and first with suggestions. During presentations he was always well dressed and knew what he was talking about. Anyways good to see that he cares not only about basketball but school as well.

My apologies to Korie. I'm lucky I got the last name spelled right but I'll remember it from now on. He's the caliber of point guard it takes to go deep into the tournament and wow is he fun to watch.

Bubu played pretty well and had 16 points. The problem for him and Law is that the competition for playing time gets a lot tougher this year. If Sledge red-shirts, BuBu might get meaningful time on the court, otherwise I doubt it. I think Law should stick with football.

With what Fred said about Sledge it is doubtful that he'll redshirt. People say they don't think that Bubu is a B12 player but he is a very good on the ball defender. If Bubu plays it'll because of that.

One player I don't think has been mentioned on this thread is someone I now hope is on our team in a 2 years-Kale Abramson. He is very skinny, but I think he will be a legitimate High Major DI player. He can shoot both the 3 and the pull up. He is agressive. He is not slow by any means, but he also is not blow by quick. He is extremely skilled (dribble moves, footwork, shot, and most importantly how to use his body to get the space necessary to get his shot off). He was not intimidated by the stage. In sum, think of a skinny Kyle Singler.

I mentioned Abrahamson in an earlier post, and I hope I spelled his name right. I agree with you, he was not out of place playing with the college kids and showed why Fred offered him. I'm in no way saying he will be another Pete Maravich, but his look and game reminds me of Pete, who most people on here probably never saw play. He's definitely quick for a young kid that tall, and his ball handling and spin moves creates space for his shots, and plenty of range on his 3. He looks to be a kid that will develop into a big time scorer.

I love that White is looking to be a facilitator (as long as he doesn't get carried away with it).
A big guy who can pass teamed with multiple 3 point assassins sounds like the start of something big.

Impression from first game tonight - WOW! Tavon can fly. He was putting down a couple crazy dunks in warm ups (although he just missed landing a between the legs stuff) and during the game he was FAST! Can't wait to see him in true game action.

Thanks for the update, and good to hear. Keep the updates coming if you could please - I'm on the road (I made the gf drive), and like to hear about our guys.

Just hearing all this makes me really wan't to see our guys play but don't live the closest to the area. Just wondering what would be the one best night to see ALL of our guys play if I would make the trip for one night?

Didn't make it to the first game.

Scott Christopherson played a pretty good ball game. He seemed like more of a faciliatator than a scorer tonight yet still dropped around 30. I feel like it will be tough to keep him out of the starting lineup next year.

Jordan Railey was pretty average. He's put on some weight but he still seems somewhat awkward out there and needs to be more aggressive in the paint especially with guys guarding him that are 3 or more inches shorter than him.

Chris Babb had a great start to the game. Came out and hit about 4 3's in a row from deep and was driving and penetrating well. He cooled off dramatically from about the middle of the first half until the middle of the second and then got hot again. I would guess he had about 30 but took a lot of shots.

Korie Lucious is very flashy and he also took a lot of shots. I wish he could play this year as he would be a for sure lock at starting point guard. Best dribbler out there by far but wasn't hitting on his 3 pointers consistently.

Chris Allen is a STUD. He had a filthy dunk over some guy and pretty much did it all. Shot pretty well and was doing pretty much what he wanted with the ball. Very athletic and will be very fun to watch this year. Will probably play the exact same role as Diante he will be the primary ball handler.

Royce White is a big boy. He never looks to shoot in this league probably because he knows he outmatches any "big man" there by far. Once again he was the point guard for his team and he seemed to have a ton of assists.

Bubu Palo was about the same as last year. Could drive decently but needs to work on finishing.

Tyrus Mcgee also had a pretty good night. He started off pretty cold but began to heat up as the game went on and it helps that Royce is on his team and gets him the ball a lot. He also had some nice dunks I didn't know he had in him.

I'm not sure, but I think our guys will be there most nights. I don't know about individual players' schedules, so I couldn't tell you who is gonna be there on certain nights. Just make sure you come for the whole time.

Thanks for the updates, guys. Keep them coming!
I am really looking forward to the start of next season!

I was there tonight, too. Channels 13 and 5 were both there filming, so check for highlights tonight at 10:00.

Like weeterkane said, Sledge was amazingly fast. He also has mad hops for a kid his size. I wonder what his vertical is?

Chris Allen played much better tonight. The dunk baller1 mentioned was sick!

Tyrus McGee looked great, and also had an incredible dunk.

Scottie was fantastic again. Just really solid all around on the offensive end.

Royce White looked to score more tonight than last Wednesday, and still had some really nice passes, some so good his team mates were completely caught off guard and lost the ball.

Ejim played amazing in the first game as well. He was doing it all!

At one point in the first game, six Cyclones were on the floor (3 on each team). It was great.

I can't stress again how much fun these games are to watch. Any Cyclone basketball fans in the area should make it a point to catch this at least one night.

Wow. Sledge is one fast little guy. He drove about 10 times and 9 out of 10 was able to finish among the skyscrapers contact and all. My question with Tavon was definitely, Can he play with B12 guys? So far he's showed toughness, skill, and he's not afraid at all.

Clyburn hit about 8 three's I swear.

Gibson was not there for those wondering.

Ejim. Stronger, faster, and I wanna say taller? it said he was 6'6 but I swear he's pushing 6'7. He had a huge game probably over 15 boards.

Booker average night.

Chris Allen had a great night mid range, long range, and dunking over people. He also had a great dunk I got on video and will post later on tonight in a new thread.

Royce is one funny guy. During an interview with Clyburn Royce hid behing the interviewer and gave the "bunny ears". Although he is capable I'd like to see him shoot more.

I left to get Culver's with my dad during game 2 (Lucious, Babb vs. Scotty, Railey)

Lucious passed well and his shot is very smooth.

Babb was on fire most of the game. He's much bigger than I thought as well.

Scotty seemed sluggish but was still impressive.

McBeth was very vocal and was better than I expected.

Railey needs to be much more aggressive and needs to get faster....or less awkward.

Law was decent not too involved.

Bubu could not finish, but was his typical self on the defensive end.

Anyone else you'd like to know about just ask! Or anything else. Look tonight for my video posts and highlights from tonight.

These updates are greatly appreciated. I joked to my daughter that we should go watch for fathers day (2 hrs each way). She wanted to but I don't love basketball that much.

Looked someone said,it is impossible to predict when players will or won't be there. But I think you have a better shot for the early games. And you should absilutey plan to be there for all 3 games.
