Alright guys and gals, any good fish fry's out there close to Ames or Des Moines? Usually some small towns know how to do it right. Places and a time would be appreciated if anyone knows.

Norwalk, st johns cathloic church. Knights of columbus puts on the best fish fry in the area. And yes, I'm bias.

Helping setup tonight I was surprised with size of fish. Can't wait to try it. If up near Ames I believe Gilbert has a good one at church.

The High Life Lounge does a fish fry every Thurs or Fri right? I believe they used to and still do. High Lounge was featured on Man V Food last year great place to eat in Des Moines.

Can someone else say for sure if they still do or ever did ( I may be completely confused) the fish fry.

I may be thinking of El Bait Shop

This isn't in central Iowa, but if you live in the eastern part of the state, go to the Prairieburg fish fry. Only one more week til then!

In Ames the Kof C at St. Cecilia and St. Thomas Aquinas alternate the Fridays of lent. They do a good job.

Here's what I found about that
The ever popular fish dinners return to the social hall and kitchen on Fridays March 11, April 1, and April 15 from 5-7 pm. ... The St. Thomas Aquinas council will host a supper on March 25 and April 8.

Hey the KC at St Malachy's in Madrid, Iowa have a great fish fry. They have both a fish and shrimp option with backed potato, corn, beans and homemade desserts to pick from. There is also homemade mac & cheese for the kiddies or to substitute for corn and beans. They also offer call in and carry out 515-795-2613. Serving time 4:30-7 P.M. dates to be held March, 11 & 18 April 1,15,22nd.
