Lattimer arrested last night

C'mon dude...it is NOT hard to become a police officer. You may not be able to just stroll off the street and get a badge but don't try and sell us it takes much. We've all seen the type of guys that become officers. It's not hard.
 
Didn't see him on the OP link, he must be out I take it. I agree with the thought that he is out for the spring and maybe a game. Sims used a stolen credit card and only got a game.

Nick, have you ever been arrested? Didn't think so. Do us all a favor and shut the F up because you don't know squat. Here's a hint: you won't learn it in a book. I tell you what, if you really want to know how the system works I will tell you in person; just buy me lunch someday and I will astound you with my story. One caveat, check the attitude at the door and open your ears. In other words, you have to want to listen and to learn. Pick a date/time and I'm there. Your treat. Send me a private message.

a physical exam is the last part-you need to run 3 miles in like a half hour. the maintenance guy where i work was trying to become a cop but couldn't pass that part. he past the mental test but couldn't do the physical. i'm guessing if he could pass, then most anyone could.

I have two buddies that are cops. 1 failed out of college and the other was a pothead all through high school. Both are meatheads and would probably be flipping burgers if they werent pretty buff. Neither individuals are what I would consider "bright" and both lack a bit of common sense. I know their biggest concerns of the whole police academy/training/hiring process was the physical tests. If the physical test is what people are most concerned of, I'm not so sure that just about anyone who is physically fit could become a cop.

While I've never "been through" the hiring process, I do know that these two have. If those two can become cops, I would say that just about anyone could become a cop.

Using your logic LE can arrest anyone who because they have the ability to to execute the act (having fists). What happens if the person didn't do any act intended (aggression counts here) to place another in fear of immediate physical contact which will be painful, injurious, insulting, or offensive?

According to cops I know if there is any confrontation at all they can arrest you for assault. And you don't have to be drunk at all to be arrested for public intoxication.

Public Intoxication law.......you just have to give the appearance of intoxication in the opinion of the officer.

Iowa: the Code of Iowa Sec 123.46 states that "a person shall not be intoxicated or simulate intoxication in a public place". Public Intoxication is a Simple Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of 30 days jail and a $1000 fine. Aggravated Public Intoxication (3rd or subsequent Offense) is an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of 2 years in prison. Most County Attorneys frown on arrests without some type of poor conduct.[15] However this would not normally invite arrest unless the person had caused a nuisance or posed a danger to themselves or others.

I'm sure the cop was just trying to intimidate him, then when Lattimer wasn't intimated the cop decided to do what all cops do and make a scene.

and for the record, an untrained monkey can become a cop. All you need is a third grade education, an inferiority complex and to love UFC.

What cops are you guys talking about? I know I have a different view of police coming from a large city, but it's actually becoming quite competitive to become a cop in Chicago and you are required 3 years college/military combined or something like that, and even then they have too many applicants.

Sorry, I don't get it. Maybe you are just thinking you are better than everyone else again. That's why I added the comment about "want to listen and learn" because it appears that you think you know it all. You don't. I'm not saying I know everything either by the way. But I do know more than little bit about the subject matter and offered to give you some insight. Don't want to learn? Fine, forget I asked.
